Kash Patel Vows Severe Charges for Leftists Who ‘Ambushed’ DHS Agents in Chicago

FBI Director Kash Patel has pledged swift and severe accountability after two leftists rammed a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) vehicle during escalating unrest in Chicago over the weekend.

The DHS identified the suspects as Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz.

They are described by DHS as domestic terrorists who “ambushed” federal agents on Saturday, as Slay News reported.

Martinez, according to DHS, was armed with a semi-automatic weapon and had a documented history of doxxing federal agents online.

She was shot by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in defensive fire, treated for her injuries at a hospital, and then released into FBI custody.

Santos Ruiz, the driver of another vehicle involved in the ramming, was also taken into custody.

“Attack our law enforcement, and this FBI will find you,” Patel warned in response.

Patel confirmed the arrests in a statement Sunday evening.

“We just arrested two individuals who were allegedly driving these vehicles and attacking our federal law enforcement officers,” Patel wrote.

“They have been charged for assaulting federal officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon.

“Attack our law enforcement, and this FBI will find you and bring you to justice.”

An FBI source reportedly told Fox News that the cases are being prosecuted as AFOs (assaults on federal officers) under Title 18, Sections 111(a) and (b) of the U.S. Code.

The AFOs make it a federal crime to forcibly assault or impede federal officers while they are performing official duties.

‘Scene Became Increasingly Violent’

DHS reported that the confrontation spiraled as additional agitators arrived.

“The scene became increasingly violent as more domestic terrorists gathered and began throwing smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at DHS law enforcement,” the agency said.

Another individual was arrested on-site for allegedly assaulting CBP officers.

DHS noted that Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker refused to authorize local police assistance, prompting DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to deploy federal special operations teams to stabilize the situation.

Pattern of Vehicle Attacks

Saturday’s clash came one day after two other suspects were arrested in Chicagoland for what DHS described as “deliberate attempts to ram and injure” Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers using their vehicles.

The suspects were identified as Miguel Escareno De Loera and Widman Osberto Lopez-Funes.

The latest attacks underscore a surge in targeted violence against federal authorities.
