A tense moment during billionaire Les Wexner’s nearly five-hour deposition on his Jeffrey Epstein ties before the House Oversight Committee has drawn attention after a video captured his attorney threatening to “kill” him for giving lengthy answers.
The full deposition of the 88-year-old former Victoria’s Secret chief executive was released by the committee as part of its ongoing investigation into Epstein’s network.
Several hours into questioning, as Wexner delivered a long response, his attorney leaned over and whispered:
“I’m going to f—ing kill you if you answer another question with more than five words, okay?”
Both men laughed, indicating it was said in jest.
The lawyer then told Wexner to “answer the question,” continuing to laugh.
Moments earlier, the attorney had encouraged Wexner to keep responses concise, saying:
“I’m sure we all appreciate the stories, we’re just trying to answer questions that they actually want answered.”
The Oversight Committee released the deposition in full, stating:
“The American people deserve to see the testimony for themselves—transparency matters.”
Wexner Maintains Innocence
Wexner is the founder of L Brands, formerly The Limited, which acquired Victoria’s Secret, Bath & Body Works, Express, and Abercrombie & Fitch.
He described Epstein as a business associate rather than a close friend.
Epstein once held power of attorney over Wexner’s finances and was one of his earliest major clients as a financial adviser.
Wexner also sold his Manhattan townhouse to Epstein, a property later identified by federal authorities as a location where Epstein abused underage girls.
Despite those ties, Wexner told lawmakers:
“I was naïve, foolish, and gullible to put any trust in Jeffrey Epstein. He was a con man.
“And while I was conned, I have done nothing wrong and have nothing to hide.
“I completely and irrevocably cut ties with Epstein nearly twenty years ago when I learned that he was an abuser, a crook, and a liar.”
Wexner testified that he severed ties in 2007 after learning of an investigation and discovering that Epstein had misappropriated funds from him and his family.
He said a substantial portion of that money was returned.
Wexner also insisted his relationship with Epstein was strictly professional:
“I don’t think I ever went to lunch, or dinner, a movie, or had a cup of coffee with Jeffrey.”
“My focus was on my business and on community,” he added.
Denials on Allegations and Victim Claims
Lawmakers pressed Wexner about claims by Maria Farmer, who has alleged abuse by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell at Wexner’s New Albany, Ohio, estate.
Wexner testified he was unaware Epstein had stayed in a guesthouse on his property and said:
“I never met her, didn’t know she was here, didn’t know she was abused.”
He categorically denied any knowledge of Epstein or Maxwell arranging women for prominent individuals.
He also denied any sexual encounters facilitated by Epstein or Maxwell and denied any sexual relationship with Epstein.
Wexner further denied any sexual contact or knowledge of Virginia Giuffre.
Questions About Trump and a Birthday Note
Committee members asked Wexner about Epstein’s relationship with President Donald Trump.
Wexner said he did not believe they were friends.
Lawmakers also questioned Wexner about a note he wrote in a birthday book for Epstein that included a drawing of breasts with the caption:
“Dear Jeffrey, I wanted to get you what you want, so here it is … Your friend, Leslie.”
Wexner confirmed writing the note, explaining:
“He was a bachelor, so I drew a pair of boobs as kind of a joke, offhandedly, I would say.”
Oversight Investigation Continues
Wexner is the fourth individual to appear before the House Oversight Committee as it continues probing Epstein’s network and potential connections to powerful figures in business, politics, and finance.
The committee has emphasized transparency in releasing deposition transcripts and video, signaling that additional testimony may follow as lawmakers seek to fully unravel Epstein’s web of associations.
