Mamdani’s New Housing Official Called to ‘Seize Private Property’ from Citizens: ‘Especially White Families’

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s newly appointed housing official, tasked with overseeing tenant policy in the nation’s largest city, previously called for the government to “seize private property” from law-abiding citizens for the “collective good,” specifically targeting white people.

According to newly uncovered social media posts, Cea Weaver, Mamdani’s new director of the Office to Protect Tenants, also claims that homeownership is a tool of “white supremacy.”

Weaver’s disturbing remarks resurfaced after Internet researchers archived posts from her now-deleted X account, The New York Post reported.

“Seize private property!” Weaver wrote on June 13, 2018.

In another post the following year, she declared:

“Private property, including any kind of ESPECIALLY homeownership, is a weapon of white supremacy.”

Weaver also urged her followers to shift the country further to the radical Left, writing:

“Elect more communists.”

She additionally posted commentary following the death of George Floyd, including the claim:

“The Police Are Just People The State Sanctions To Murder W[ith] Immunity,” she wrote.

In an unearthed video, Weaver says NYC will transition private property to being a “collective good.”

“It will mean that especially white families…are gonna have a different relationship to property than the one we currently have,” she declares.

Like Mamdani and other radicals such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Weaver is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

She also previously worked as a campaign coordinator for Housing Justice For All.

Weaver advised Mamdani’s campaign before being elevated to an official leadership position inside City Hall.

Mamdani, who pledged sweeping socialist policy reforms during his inaugural address, has already moved to impose aggressive housing measures.

He has called for a rent freeze affecting one million rent-regulated apartments, and signed an executive order establishing “Rental Ripoff” hearings across all five boroughs during his first 100 days in office.

“Too many New Yorkers have been forced to pay more for less—living in unsafe, unconscionable, and unaffordable housing,” Mamdani said.

“Under my administration, that ends.

“Today’s executive order is the first step towards giving New Yorkers a voice in addressing the housing crisis that is pricing them out of our city.”

Weaver’s resurfaced statements, openly endorsing property seizure and communist ideology, are now raising questions about the ideological direction of Mamdani’s administration and the future of private property rights in New York City.
