Norwegian Authorities Launch Investigation Into Former Prime Minister as Epstein Ties Exposed

Shockwaves from the explosive release of Jeffrey Epstein–related documents are now rippling across Europe and the global elite, with Norwegian authorities launching a corruption investigation into former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland and a cascade of high-profile resignations unfolding worldwide.

Norwegian police confirmed Thursday that they searched properties tied to Jagland after U.S. Justice Department records suggested he and/or his family stayed or vacationed with Epstein between 2011 and 2018.

The revelations have thrust one of Europe’s most prominent political figures into the widening scandal surrounding the convicted sex offender’s powerful network.

Jagland served as Norway’s prime minister from 1996 to 1997 and later became secretary general of the Council of Europe.

The powerful European official also chaired the committee responsible for selecting the Nobel Peace Prize winner until 2015.

In the newly released documents, Epstein reportedly referred to him as “the Nobel big shot.”

Økokrim chief Pål Lønseth confirmed that Jagland’s Oslo residence had been searched and that the former prime minister is now formally suspected of “aggravated corruption.”

The search became possible only after the Council of Europe lifted Jagland’s immunity on February 11.

Footage aired on Norwegian television showed investigators removing boxes from the residence.

Meanwhile, Jagland, accompanied by his lawyer, was filmed leaving the premises smiling.

His attorney, Anders Brosveet, said the searches were expected and described them as standard procedure.

Brosveet added that Jagland intends to cooperate fully and appear for questioning so the case can be “thoroughly clarified.”

Global Elite Scramble as Epstein Document Dump Triggers Resignations

The investigation into Jagland comes amid a sweeping reckoning triggered by the Justice Department’s release of roughly three million Epstein-related documents.

The unprecedented disclosure continues to expose the depth of the financier’s connections to political, financial, and cultural power centers.

In the United Kingdom, Lord Peter Mandelson was fired by Prime Minister Keir Starmer in September 2025 from his post as ambassador to the United States after his ties to Epstein were revealed to be closer than previously disclosed.

Mandelson now faces a criminal investigation following new allegations that he shared market-sensitive information with Epstein years earlier.

In the United States, fallout has spread across business, law, and entertainment:

Casey Wasserman, chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics organizing committee, announced plans to sell his talent agency after appearing dozens of times in Epstein-linked documents.

Wasserman also appeared in communications with Ghislaine Maxwell.

Singer Chappell Roan severed ties with Wasserman’s agency after the revelations.

Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime accomplice, remains imprisoned after receiving a 20-year sentence for helping traffic underage girls.

Karp was referenced hundreds of times in the files.

In announcing his resignation, Karp cited the distraction caused by his ties to Epstein.

A Scandal Still Unfolding

The widening investigations and resignations underscore how deeply Epstein’s influence penetrated the highest levels of global power.

What began as a criminal case against a single financier has evolved into an international reckoning.

It’s a case that continues to expose political leaders, billionaires, and cultural gatekeepers whose connections are only now coming fully into view.

With corruption probes expanding, immunity shields falling, and elite careers collapsing, the post-Epstein era is rapidly becoming a defining scandal of the modern political age.

The full scope of the network may still be far from known.
