Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appeared on CNN Wednesday night for her first interview since announcing she will not seek re-election.
The powerful Democrat immediately faced questions about her latest attack on President Donald Trump.
As Slay News reported, Pelosi recently described Trump as “a vile creature” and “the worst thing on the face of the Earth.”
Pelosi made the original comments earlier this month during an interview with CNN’s Elex Michaelson.
When asked directly whether she truly believed Trump was “the worst thing on the face of the Earth,” she responded without hesitation: “I do, yeah, I do.”
CNN’s Anderson Cooper pressed her about the remark on Wednesday.
“One of the things you said recently in an interview — you said that President Trump was a vile creature, the worst thing on the face of the Earth,” Cooper said.
“Do you think he’s different now than he was in his first term in terms of his abilities, his leadership?”
Pelosi attempted to lighten the moment, claiming her insult was merely symbolic.
“By the way, I said that as a euphemism,” she laughed.
“I could have done much worse.”
Cooper invited her to elaborate.
“Are there other adjectives you’d rather use?”
Pelosi refused to go further, pivoting away from Trump entirely.
“No, no, I want to talk about my House, the House Democrats, and how we’re going to win what’s there,” she said.

Pelosi’s Original Attack
In the earlier CNN interview, Pelosi insisted Trump deserved to be called a “vile creature” because, she claimed, he does not “honor the Constitution.”
“Because he’s the president of the United States and he does not honor the Constitution of the United States,” Pelosi raged.
“In fact, he’s turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court.
“He’s abolished the House of Representatives, he’s chilled the press, he’s scared people who are in the country legally.”
The remarks were widely criticized as hyperbolic even by some Democrats.
They stand in stark contrast to the tone typically expected from a retiring lawmaker giving exit interviews.
Pelosi’s Attacks Highlight Democrats’ 2024 Frustration
The outburst underscores the increasingly aggressive rhetoric top Democrats are using against President Trump now that he is firmly back in the White House and pursuing major reforms.
Rather than softening her language during her exit from Congress, Pelosi is leaning in, even as CNN hosts try to give her space to clarify.
She chose not to walk anything back.
Pelosi may be stepping away from re-election, but Wednesday’s interview made it clear:
Her personal animus toward President Trump is only getting louder.
