Pelosi Pushing Transgender Surgery for Children ‘At the National Level’

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has declared that she is working to advance the Left’s radical push for child transgender surgeries “at the national level.”

On Thursday, Pelosi made it clear that she is pushing for “gender-affirming care” for “transgender” children as a top priority, nationwide.

It comes even as many states, including deep blue California, pause such treatments due to growing concerns about the irreversible treatments for minors.

During a visit to the San Francisco VA Medical Center, Pelosi discussed various issues, including veterans’ services.

Pelosi was asked about the ongoing debate over transgender surgeries and hormone therapies for children.

She responded by emphasizing her support for “transgender youth” and expressing frustration with pushback against children being put through mutilating genital surgeries.

“That is something I’m working for at the national level, and we are hoping we can have gender-affirming care for our trans kids,” Pelosi said.

“It’s a sad thing for us… I don’t know what effect we can have nationally with what we have going on in the White House and in Congress.”

Pelosi called the situation “really sad,” highlighting the transgender-pride flag that hangs outside her office.

She said the far-left symbol was also displayed by several of her colleagues.

This was in reference to her ongoing efforts to advocate for life-altering surgery for minors, despite pushback from conservative lawmakers and organizations.

Pelosi acknowledged that Republicans, including many on Capitol Hill, oppose medical transition for children.

Still, she insisted that her position remains unchanged, and she continues to push for “gender-affirming care” as part of her broader political agenda.

Her comments come as multiple Democratic-led states continue their battle over access to sex-change procedures for minors.

Earlier this month, a group of more than a dozen state officials filed a lawsuit to stop the Trump administration from blocking access to such procedures for people under 19.

The lawsuit, which names President Donald Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and the Justice Department, challenges a January 2024 executive order barring government support for sex-change surgeries.

It also challenges memos from Bondi and Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate directing investigations into providers of such services.

The action from the Trump administration, as outlined in Bondi’s memo, seeks to prosecute those offering transition-related medical services to minors.

Shumate’s memo calls for investigations into the doctors, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies involved in these alarming procedures.

The lawsuit also highlights a growing shift among medical providers in response to the administration’s stance.

In July 2024, Kaiser Permanente announced a pause on sex-change surgeries for minors, which was followed by closures of prominent transgender clinics, including the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Center for Trans Youth Health and Development and the Children’s National Hospital in Washington, D.C.

Currently, several states, including California, Connecticut, and New York, still allow sex-change surgeries for minors.

Many other states are moving to impose restrictions or outright bans.

The legal battle over this issue, combined with the growing controversy over medical transitions for minors, continues to divide lawmakers, healthcare providers, and parents alike.

Pelosi’s vocal support for children’s sex changes marks a continued clash between the Democratic Party and conservative critics, who argue that such procedures on minors should not be promoted or performed, citing concerns over the long-term health impacts and ethical considerations.

As the debate heats up, Pelosi remains steadfast in her push for a nationwide policy that would guarantee access to “gender-affirming care,” even as opposition mounts from both state and national leaders.
