President Donald Trump has revealed that his Wednesday phone call with Russian leader Vladimir Putin was “not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace.”
After the call, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that Putin told him Russia “will have to respond” to Ukraine’s recent attack on Russian airfields.
Trump said the phone call with Putin lasted about one hour and 15 minutes.
However, he noted that the conversation didn’t bring Russia and Ukraine any closer to a peace deal.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides.
“It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace.
“President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”
In a bold escalation of the conflict, Ukrainian forces executed a sweeping operation on Sunday, dubbed “Operation Spider’s Web.”
The attack destroyed 40 of Russia’s most powerful bombers and surveillance aircraft in a series of deep strikes inside Russian territory.
The Russian defense ministry confirmed the attacks, reporting that five airfields were struck.
Even more revealing, President Volodymyr Zelensky personally oversaw the operation.
Zelensky had reportedly been planning the attack for more than 18 months.
And yet, the Trump administration was not informed in advance, according to a White House official speaking to Fox News.
That key omission raises serious questions about transparency, alliance coordination, and escalation risk at a time when global tensions continue to spiral.
On Tuesday, Ukraine’s Security Service followed up with another major blow: an underwater blast targeting the vital bridge linking Russia to occupied Crimea—a symbol of Moscow’s territorial control.
That same day, Zelensky claimed Russia launched a “savage strike” on Sumy, a city in northeast Ukraine, describing it as a direct assault on civilian areas using rocket artillery.
As the three-year war grinds on, President Trump has consistently pushed for peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
While early efforts showed promise, Trump is reportedly growing frustrated with Putin’s unwillingness to reach a reasonable settlement.
In recent peace talks held in Istanbul, Putin’s demand for vast swaths of Ukrainian territory was firmly rejected by Kyiv, ending the round without progress.
Meanwhile, Trump is also focused on a broader geopolitical threat: Iran. In a revealing statement about his recent hour-long call with Putin, Trump warned:
“Time is running out on Iran’s decision pertaining to nuclear weapons.”
He continued:
“I stated to President Putin that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and, on this, I believe that we were in agreement,” Trump wrote.
“President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion.”
“It is my opinion that Iran has been slow walking their decision on this very important matter, and we will need a definitive answer in a very short period of time!”
With Ukraine pushing military boundaries and Russia ramping up retaliation, Trump’s warning about global instability rings louder than ever.
