DeSantis Knocks Obama off the Top Spot with New Book Sales

Florida’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis dealt a huge blow to former President Barack Obama’s ego with the release of his new book.

DeSantis’s book knocked Obama out of first place in pre-presidential book sales.

The governor sold more copies of his new memoir in the first week than those released by Obama and President Donald Trump before their bids for office.

In the seven days after its publishing on February 28, DeSantis sold 94,284 copies of “The Courage to Be Free: Florida’s Blueprint for America’s Revival,” according to BookScan.

Obama had the record with his 2006 book “The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream.”

The 44th POTUS had 66,766 purchases of his book in the first week of sales.

The third-highest first-week sales of pre-presidential run books is from Ben Carson.

Carson’s book, “A More Perfect Union: What We the People Can Do to Reclaim Our Constitutional Liberties,” sold 37,924 copies.

DeSantis has not announced his bid for 2024 yet but all signs point to him entering the race.

He is in Iowa today to “promote” his book.

Rep. Zach Nunn (R-IA) offered a word of caution for DeSantis:

“We’ve seen far too many candidates come to Iowa who were the next big thing.

“And after a few weeks on the ground going to Pizza Ranches, everybody realized, ‘Well, that’s a great speech, but you don’t have the human touch.’

“And that was the nail in the coffin.”

According to ABC, DeSantis is running:

Sources tell ABC News that DeSantis is indicating to his allies that he intends to launch a 2024 bid for the White House.

This comes as he heads to Iowa Friday. It will be his first appearance in the state which votes first in the Republican presidential nominating calendar.

He will make two stops – one in Davenport and one in Des Moines – to promote his new book.
