Rosie O’Donnell Admits She Was ‘Overeating & Overdrinking’ After First Trump Win: ‘Very Depressed’

Left-wing actress Rosie O’Donnell revealed this week that she left the United States for Ireland out of “self-preservation” after President Donald Trump’s elections.

O’Donnell claims she became deeply depressed after his 2016 victory.

The former Hollywood liberal claims Trump is to blame for her “overeating” and “overdrinking.”

O’Donnell made the comments during a Tuesday appearance on “The Chris Cuomo Project” podcast.

She told the former CNN anchor that Trump’s rise left her emotionally unraveling and unable to cope.

“During his first go-round, it was very difficult, and I got myself into some bad places,” O’Donnell said.

“I was very, very depressed.

“I was overeating. I was overdrinking

“I was so depressed, Chris.”

She added that she left for Ireland after Trump’s 2024 election win.

O’Donnell claimed that Trump would enforce policies she believes would cut services for special needs children.

“Coming to Ireland was totally a way to take care of myself and my non-binary autistic child,” she said.

“Who’s going to need services and help and counseling and all the things that [Trump is] threatening to cut in his horrible plan of the big, beautiful bill.”

O’Donnell also vented her anger that Americans “believed the lies” of Trump.

She said it hurt to know she worked in an industry that “sells those lies for profit.”

Cuomo told O’Donnell that Trump’s political rise would affect her more than it would affect him personally.

When asked how Ireland has changed her life, O’Donnell praised the country for being more low-key about celebrity culture and for lacking “MAGA support.”

She also shared a story about receiving a pint of Guinness from an older Irish man after explaining that she left America because of Trump.

O’Donnell contrasted that with an alleged incident at a CVS in the U.S., where she and her child were mocked following Trump’s 2024 victory.

“One cursed at us, and she’s like, ‘Why are they cursing at us?’” O’Donnell recalled.

“And I’m like, ‘Honey, you know the bad guy? They’re all bad guys too.’”
