Savannah Guthrie to Return to ‘Today’ Show as Missing Mother’s Case Goes Cold

“Today” show host Savannah Guthrie is preparing to return to work in New York City after nearly a month in Arizona, as the search for her abducted mother has now turned cold.

Meanwhile, the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance continues with no clear answers.

Sources told the Daily Mail that the “Today” show co-host plans to head back home this weekend, facing the painful possibility that finding her 84-year-old mother could take years.

Nancy was taken from her bed in the early hours of February 1 at her longtime home in Tucson’s upscale Catalina Foothills neighborhood.

Since then, Guthrie, 54, and her family have remained in Arizona, holding onto hope while enduring what she described as relentless anguish.

“It is day 24 since our mom was taken in the dark of night from her bed,” Guthrie said in a tearful social media video this week.

“And every hour and minute and second and every long night has been agony since then.

“Worrying for her, fearing for her, aching for her.”

She continued: “We still believe.

“We still believe in a miracle.

“We still believe that she can come home.

“Hope against hope, as my sister says, we are blowing on the embers of hope.”

But Guthrie also acknowledged the grim reality confronting her family.

“We also know that she may be lost, she may already be gone.

“She may have already gone home to the lord that she loves.

“But we need to know where she is.

“We need her to come home.

“For that reason, we are offering a family reward of up to $1 million for any information that leads us to her recovery.

“Somebody knows, and we are begging you to please come forward now.”

She pleaded, “Tell us what you know and help us bring our beloved mom home so that we can either celebrate a glorious, miraculous homecoming or celebrate the beautiful, brave, courageous, and noble life that she lived.”

Questions Surround Investigation

The reward comes as frustration grows over the pace of the investigation, now a joint effort between the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI.

Law enforcement sources have reportedly criticized Sheriff Chris Nanos for tightly controlling the probe and limiting public updates.

Nanos has rejected speculation surrounding surveillance images of a masked suspect, including suggestions that photos may have been taken on different days, calling such claims “purely speculative.”

Video released by the FBI shows a masked, armed individual at Nancy Guthrie’s doorstep shortly before investigators believe she was abducted.

According to ABC News and CNN, one image appears to show the suspect without a backpack, raising questions about possible prior surveillance. Authorities say there are no visible timestamps on the images.

Return to Studio 1A

Savannah Guthrie’s husband, Michael Feldman, and the couple’s two young children have remained in New York.

NBC has reportedly left the door open for her return to Studio 1A when she is ready.

“She can’t stay in Arizona forever,” one source told the Daily Mail.

“Her kids and her life are in New York City.”

For now, the family’s focus remains on finding answers.

They are holding onto what Guthrie described as “the embers of hope.”
