Singer Courtney Love ‘Getting British Citizenship’ Because America ‘Frightening’ Under Trump: ‘Like Cyanide Now’

Singer Courtney Love has announced that she is soon “getting British citizenship” because she claims America is “frightening now” since President Donald Trump returned to the White House.

Love, the former frontwoman for the band Hole, revealed in an anti-Trump statement that she plans to live in the United Kingdom permanently.

The 60-year-old singer and songwriter is best known for being married to Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain from 1992 until his suicide in 1994.

She made the announcement during a Royal Geographical Society event in London.

Love has reportedly lived in London since 2019 but is now planning to relocate on a more permanent basis.

According to a report by The Daily Mail, Lova attacked Trump while sharing her excitement at living in the UK and becoming a British citizen

“It’s so great to live here,” she said.

“I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months.

“I get to be a citizen – I’m applying, man!

According to the report, the singer unloaded in an unprovoked tirade against Trump and his allies.

She slammed America as “frightening now.”

“In terms of Trump, and particularly this group… it’s like emperor-core – like, [they’re] wearing million-dollar watches,” Love said.

“Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago,” she continued.

“It’s frightening now.

“It’s like cyanide now.”

“Core” is internet slang, attached to words as a suffix, to describe an aesthetic or trend associated with the word.

Love moved from Los Angeles to London in October 2019.

The singer explained her reasoning in 2022, saying her favorite things about London were:

“Laws. No guns. Four seasons. Discourse. You stan a middle-aged woman far better. Discretion.”

“I’m an Anglophile,” she told the London Evening Standard in 2024.

“I love London, it’s my favorite city and is the best place I’ve ever lived.

“I’m left alone, there are laws here that protect me when I’m being outspoken, I like the friends I’ve made here.”

Love is not the only celebrity to announce she was fleeing America in Trump’s second term.

Actresses Rosie O’Donnell and Ellen DeGeneres also reportedly moved overseas.

They both revealed they fled the country after the 2024 election to escape the new administration.
