Stacey Abrams Claims She Never Denied Election Loss, Argues She Was ‘Trying to Defend Democracy’

Failed Democrat Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has claimed that she never truly denied losing her 2018 race, but instead sought to “redefine victory” in order to keep her supporters motivated.

The notorious election-denier made the remarks during an interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace on Monday.

Abrams, who twice ran for governor and has floated another campaign, became a national Democrat figure in 2018 after refusing to concede to Republican Brian Kemp.

At the time, Abrams alleged Kemp, then serving as Georgia’s secretary of state, engaged in “voter suppression” by enforcing election laws.

She has since acknowledged Kemp as the state’s “legitimate governor under the rules that were in place” while still resisting the word “concede.”

During an interview on Wallace’s podcast “The Best People,” Abrams attempted to reframe her loss.

After Wallace praised her as a “bada*s,” Abrams claimed she was never confused about the result.

Abrams now claims that she never denied her election loss.

Instead, the Democrat operative insists that she was merely “trying to defend democracy” by refusing to concede to the duly elected gubernatorial race winner.

“In 2018, when I lost my election, I was never confused about it,” Abrams said.

“I had conversations with communities, and I would say, ‘We won,’ and that just would send people into these, you know, paroxysms of hatred.

“What I was telling them is: ‘Look, not getting the title did not mean that we didn’t make progress.’”

According to Abrams, Democrats must avoid treating election results as the only measure of success.

“When you are trying to defend democracy, when you’re trying to serve the people, progress counts as victory,” she argued.

“Because their goal is your silence.

“Their goal is your complicity.

“Their goal is your subjugation.

“Every day we remain free, that is progress.”

Abrams went further, suggesting Democrats “will keep losing” if they continue to define winning strictly through elections.

“But if we have to wait for this large announcement, like elections, to say that ‘This is when we win,’ we’re going to keep losing,” she told Wallace.

“I say ‘Let’s look for the small interstitial victories we can grasp—those small moments of progress we can make—because that adds up to the actual victory we’re trying to get to.’”
