Republican Georgia State Sen. Colton Moore has announced that he is officially entering the race to replace Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who is set to resign from Congress in early January.
The move immediately reshapes one of the reddest districts in the country.
“Today I’m entering the race for Georgia’s 14th congressional district because President Trump needs a fighter in Congress who will never flinch and never sell out,” Moore said in a statement to Breitbart News.
Georgia’s 14th District holds a Cook Partisan Voting Index score of R+19, meaning Moore will enter a reliably Republican battlefield.
However, the deep red district has no shortage of GOP hopefuls eager to capitalize on Greene’s departure.
A Known Fighter in Georgia’s Conservative Movement
Moore rose to national prominence in 2023 after leading the push to impeach Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over her now-collapsed prosecution of President Donald Trump and his allies.
The backlash from state leadership only boosted Moore’s reputation among the GOP base.
“The RINO establishment punished me for it, kicked me out of the caucus, banned me from the House floor, and even had me arrested for showing up to do my job,” Moore recounted.
“Every time they hit, we hit back harder, and we won bigger.”
Moore says that the same posture will define his House run.
“Now we take that fight to Washington,” he continued.
“With President Trump in the White House, we’re going to finish the job by deporting all illegals, lowering the price of gas and groceries, and stopping socialism in its tracks.”

Rapid Political Rise and Internal Party Battles
Moore, 32, was first elected to the Georgia House at age 24 and won election to the state Senate in 2022.
His clashes with state leadership have been frequent and public.
He was expelled from the state House GOP caucus in March 2024 after opposing a resolution honoring what he called a “corrupt” former state senator accused of financial misconduct.
In January, House Speaker Jon Burns even directed police to remove Moore after he attempted to attend the State of the State joint session.
“I’ve already gone toe to toe with the Georgia swamp and beat them,” Moore said.
“I’m ready to do it again in Congress, every single day, with President Trump leading the charge.”
“As Georgia’s #1-ranked conservative, my campaign and record prove that I am 100% Pro-Trump, 100% Pro-Life, and 100% Pro-Gun,” he added.
“Northwest Georgia sent me to Atlanta to fight.
“Now I’m asking you to send me to Washington to get the job done.”
Greene’s Exit Leaves GOP in a Tight Spot
Greene announced last month that she will resign effective January 5, following weeks of high-profile appearances on left-leaning media outlets blasting Republican leadership.
Her departure will cost House Republicans a vital vote heading into another government funding showdown.
Governor Brian Kemp has confirmed he will call a special election in March to fill the seat.
Moore will now attempt to consolidate the pro-Trump base, which dominates the district, and position himself as the natural heir to Greene’s America First mantle.
