Top Climate Scientist Admits ‘Global Warming’ Alarmism Is ‘Rewarded’ by Green Agenda ‘Industry’

One of the world’s most cited climate scientists has blown the whistle on the true motivations behind alarmism about so-called “global warming.”

Dr. Judith Curry, who was once celebrated by the corporate media, the United Nations (UN), and other “climate crisis” narrative advocates, has lifted the lid on the green agenda “industry” during a recent interview.

Curry became a “rock star” in the climate science world after she published a study claiming that global warming was causing a rise in hurricanes and other extreme weather events around the world.

She became a darling of the corporate media and was jetted around the world for UN-funded VIP trips to spread these claims.

However, Curry’s study eventually unraveled when other scientists challenged her findings.

As it turned out, the data in Curry’s study was flawed and it didn’t prove that “climate change” was impacting the weather.

After she was exposed, Curry says she was completely shunned by the “climate change industry.”

Curry has now chosen to speak out about her experience to expose how the green agenda industry works.

She says she was forced to rely on faulty data in order to create alarmism about her study.

According to Curry, the UN, academia, and green agenda organizations will only fund climate studies that promote alarmism.

In the scientific community, the entire science industry revolved around obtaining grants to fund studies.

In particular, the UN only funds studies that support the globalist “climate crisis” narrative.

Curry says that climate studies are completely ignored if they fail to produce global warming alarmism or dispute the alarmist narratives.

In a recent interview with journalist John Stossel, Curry explains how the media and academia reward climate alarmism.

She explains why they only want to hear one side of the story.

TRANSCRIPT (via Real Clear Politics):

JOHN STOSSEL: “Climate change is a crisis we’re told.

“Anyone who’s skeptical or raises any questions about the alarm is dismissed.

“The consensus is so strong, there shouldn’t even be a debate.

“Climate alarmists claim there’s an overwhelming scientific consensus but researcher Judith Curry says climate scientists have an incentive to exaggerate risk.

“Why, what’s in it for them?”

JUDITH CURRY: “Fame and fortune.”

STOSSEL: “She knows about that because she once spread alarm about climate change.

“The media loved her when she published this study saying there was an increase in hurricane intensity.

CURRY: “We found that the percent of category four and five hurricanes had doubled, so this was picked up by the media.

“Alarmists said, ‘Oh, here’s the way to do it.’

“Tie extreme weather events to global warming.”

STOSSEL: “So this hysteria is your fault?”

CURRY: “Well, sort of, not really, they would have picked up on it anyway.”

STOSSEL: “But Curry’s more intense hurricanes gave them fuel.”

CURRY: “I was adopted by the environmental advocacy groups and the alarmists, and I was treated like a rock star.”

STOSSEL: “What does that mean, treated like a rock star?”

CURRY: “Oh my God, I was flown all over the place to meet with politicians and to give these talks and lots of media attention…

“About 10 years ago, the editor of the journal Science, she wrote this political rant about we need to stop emissions now, that was published in Science.

“So what kind of message does that give, promote the alarming papers and don’t even send the other ones out for review.”
