President Donald Trump has confirmed that U.S. military forces carried out fresh airstrikes on a suspected narcoterrorist vessel carrying illegal drugs near Venezuela.
The strikes are a continuation of the Trump administration’s aggressive campaign against cartel-linked operations in the Caribbean.
The president announced the strike during remarks marking the Navy’s 250th birthday.
Standing alongside two U.S. aircraft carriers, Trump told service members at Naval Station Norfolk:
“In recent weeks, the Navy has supported our mission to blow the cartel terrorists the hell out of the water. …
“We did another one last night.
“Now we just can’t find any.”
The president later clarified to reporters that the latest strikes occurred on Saturday.
He declined to provide additional details, telling the press:
“My people will give you those.”
Ongoing Campaign At Sea
The operation marks at least the fourth strike in recent weeks, following a Friday strike in the Caribbean that killed four suspected traffickers.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has previously defended the campaign.
Hegseth said that the administration has “every authorization needed” since the targets are “designated as foreign terrorist organizations.”
The latest attacks come as part of a broader Trump administration push to disrupt cartel smuggling routes by sea.
“They’re not coming in by sea anymore, so now we’ll have to start looking about the land because they’ll be forced to go by land,” Trump said.
Maduro Condemns U.S. Actions
In a video posted to Telegram, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro denounced the strike as “U.S. aggression against Venezuela.”
The socialist dictator vowed that Venezuela “will never be afraid to defend their right to live and be free.”
He did not directly address Trump’s Sunday comments.
Navy Applauded
Trump used the moment to highlight the Navy’s role in safeguarding U.S. interests, praising the service’s long legacy of accomplishments and sacrifice.
“The Navy has supported our mission” to stop cartel operations, Trump said.
He added that the decisive maritime campaign had left traffickers with fewer safe options.
While details such as casualty numbers, the vessel’s cargo, and the precise location of the latest strike have not yet been disclosed, the president made clear the military’s mission against cartel-linked drug operations is far from over.
