President Donald Trump is once again taking aim at longtime adversary Rosie O’Donnell, this time suggesting he is “giving serious thought” to revoking the liberal comedian’s U.S. citizenship.
In a Wednesday post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“As previously mentioned, we are giving serious thought to taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship.
“She is not a Great American and is, in my opinion, incapable of being so!”
The president made similar comments in July, calling O’Donnell “a Threat to Humanity” and saying she is “not in the best interests of our Great Country.”
O’Donnell, who has repeatedly clashed with Trump for nearly two decades, fired back in July by mocking the president as “Game of Thrones” character “King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan.”
“Go ahead and try, King Joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. I’m not yours to silence I never was,” she wrote.
The comedian relocated to Ireland earlier this year with her daughter following Trump’s 2024 electoral victory.
She is in the process of obtaining Irish citizenship, citing the “political climate” in America as the reason for her move.
“When it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back,” O’Donnell said in a TikTok video.
Despite Trump’s threats, the Constitution prevents the president from stripping citizenship from anyone born in the United States.
The 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to all individuals born on U.S. soil.
O’Donnell was born in Commack, New York, to Irish-American parents.
The feud between Trump and O’Donnell stretches back to 2006, when O’Donnell criticized him on “The View” over his handling of a Miss USA scandal.
Trump responded with repeated verbal attacks, often singling her out during public appearances.
In the first GOP presidential debate in 2015, when asked about derogatory terms he had allegedly used to describe women, Trump famously quipped:
“Only Rosie O’Donnell.”
In March of this year, Trump dismissed O’Donnell entirely when asked about her by a reporter during a White House meeting with the Irish prime minister.
“Do you know who she is? You’re better off not knowing,” Trump said.
The actress also sparked backlash last month after a Catholic school shooting in Minneapolis.
As Slay News reported, she falsely claimed the gunman was a Republican, MAGA supporter, and white supremacist.
“What do you know? It was a white guy, Republican, MAGA person,” O’Donnell said in a video.
“What do you know? White supremacists.”
She later deleted the video and issued an apology.
“You are right,” she said.
“I did not do my due diligence before I made that emotional statement, and I said things about the shooter that were incorrect. …
“Anyway, the truth is I messed up, and when you mess up, you fess up. I’m sorry.”
For now, Trump’s comments about stripping O’Donnell’s citizenship remain rhetorical jabs in a feud that has defined both figures for nearly 20 years.
But the renewed spotlight underscores how their rivalry continues to play out at the highest levels of American politics.
