Trump Shreds ‘Mentally Gone’ Chuck Schumer: ‘He’s Been Beat Up by Young Radical Lunatics’

President Donald Trump on Tuesday delivered a blistering assessment of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), declaring that the longtime Democrat leader is “mentally gone.”

Trump argues that Schumer has been “beat up by young radical lunatics” who now control his party.

Speaking during an interview, Trump was asked whether the Democratic Party now belongs more to far-left New York mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani than to establishment figures like Schumer or House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).

“Probably is,” Trump replied.

“Maybe he’ll run for president in four years; you’ll have a communist president.

“That would be interesting.”

“I don’t see it happening,” Trump continued.

“I’ve always said, ‘We will not have socialism in our country,’ and I was right.”

The president said the Democratic Party’s shift toward open radicalism is now embodied by figures like Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, rather than by traditional liberal leaders.

“He’s a communist, and he’s gonna be, maybe the mayor of New York,” Trump said.

“I would say he would be the leader of the party.”

Turning his attention to Schumer, Trump offered what he called a frank assessment of the Senate minority leader’s political decline.

“It’s not Schumer. Schumer’s shot, he’s shot,” Trump said.

“This poor guy. I feel sorry for him.

“I’ve known him for a long time, but I think he’s mentally gone.

“He’s been beat up by young radical lunatics.

“I think Chuck Schumer is — he’s gonzo. I really do.”

“He’s probably not going to run,” Trump continued.

“It shows that he’s losing in every poll.

“Now, this is hard,” he added.

“You know, he wants to meet with me.

“Sort of hard to be with the guy after I make a statement like that, but I’m just giving you the facts.

GOP Leaders Agree Schumer Has Lost Control

Trump’s remarks echo similar criticism from Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-WY), who accused Schumer last week of surrendering to the far-Left wing of his party.

Barrasso cited a Politico report titled “Chuck Schumer’s Critics Are Satisfied – For Now” that described how radical activist groups have rallied behind Schumer after months of pressure.

“The leader of this far-left group says of the Minority Leader, ‘He hasn’t surrendered yet. I call that progress, and we’re cheering him on now,’” Barrasso said on the Senate floor.

“Seven months ago, that same person had a very different message.

“They said, ‘Senator Schumer should step aside as leader. Every Democrat in the Senate should call for him to do so.’

“So what changed?” Barrasso asked.

Barrasso argued that Schumer’s newfound approval from the Left came after he began toeing their line, even leading a shutdown against President Trump despite voting more than a dozen times under Joe Biden to fund the government without condition.

“The Minority Leader is now a puppet of the radical, extreme, dangerous wing of his party,” Barrasso said.

“He huddled with far-left activist groups for months before the shutdown.

“They orchestrated the Schumer Shutdown together.

“They organized a war room.

“They’re calling the tune.”

According to Barrasso, Schumer even boasted to Punchbowl News, saying:

“We thought about this long in advance,” suggesting that the shutdown was premeditated and politically motivated.

A Party in Decline

Trump’s comments reflect a broader view among conservatives that the Democratic Party has been overtaken by socialist and communist factions that no longer represent mainstream America.

Schumer, once seen as a pragmatic dealmaker, is now widely viewed, even by some within his own party, as a figurehead struggling to control the radical forces he helped enable.

As Trump put it, Schumer’s decline marks not just the end of an era for Democrat leadership, but the beginning of what he warned could be a dangerous new phase in American politics.

This phase is one defined by ideological extremism, economic destruction, and hostility to traditional values.
