President Donald Trump has launched a sweeping new effort to shut down Canada’s new alliance with China to help the Chinese Communist Party establish a “new world order.”
Trump is seeking block Communist China from further entrenching itself in North America by cutting off Beijing’s growing influence inside Canada.
The move comes as Trump formalizes what allies are calling the “Donroe Doctrine,” a return to hard-line American hemispheric dominance modeled on the Monroe Doctrine.
It’s explicitly aimed at stopping foreign powers, particularly China, from using neighboring nations as staging grounds against the United States.
Trump directly addressed Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The president pointedly referred to Carney as “governor,” underscoring what Trump views as Canada’s dependence on American power and protection.
In a Truth Social post, Trump issued a stark warning:
“If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken.
“China will eat Canada alive, completely devour it, including the destruction of their businesses, social fabric, and general way of life.
“If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A.
“Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DJT”
Trump attached an article detailing what he described as Canada’s “Deal with the Devil,” a strategic pivot toward Beijing that would weaken the West while empowering America’s chief geopolitical rival.
The report outlined how Carney, speaking to global elites in Davos, Switzerland, warned that the U.S.-led post-World War II “rules-based order” is collapsing, while simultaneously moving to align Canada more closely with China.
Carney had previously confirmed that direction during a meeting with Chinese Communist Party officials in Beijing.
During that meeting, Carney vowed that Canada would help China establish a “new world order.”
Pressed by Bloomberg News on what that meant, Carney defended his remarks after announcing a new “strategic partnership” with Beijing, one designed to expand trade, mutual investment, law-enforcement cooperation, and coordination on what he described as “global governance.”
The agreement represents a deliberate recalibration away from the United States and toward China, despite Beijing’s alignment with Russia and the West’s proxy war with Moscow in Ukraine.
Trump responded again over the weekend, making his position unmistakably clear:
“The last thing the World needs is to have China take over Canada.
“It’s NOT going to happen, or even come close to happening!
“Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J.TRUMP”
The warning came as reports surfaced that the Canadian military had quietly prepared a hypothetical invasion response plan against the United States, an unprecedented move between founding NATO members and longtime NORAD partners.
According to Canadian media, the plan reads less like a conventional defense strategy and more like an insurgency playbook, borrowing tactics from conflicts in Afghanistan, including ambushes, sabotage, and hit-and-run operations along the U.S.–Canada border.
The revelations shocked observers, given that the United States and Canada jointly operate continental air defense through NORAD and have never been adversaries in modern history.
Yet, Canada’s pivot toward China is not new.
In 2018, Canada and China reportedly cooperated in intelligence activities involving a U.S. submarine base.
In 2024, Chinese soldiers began training alongside Canada’s forces on Canadian soil.
During Canada’s Liberal Party leadership debates in February 2025, former Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland went even further, urging Canada to seek protection from European nuclear powers against the United States.
“What is different about this unleashed and empowered President Trump is he is clearly threatening our sovereignty, and we need to respond,” Freeland said at the time.
“The U.S. is turning predator.”
Weeks later, French President Emmanuel Macron announced a vision for a new global order led by Western Europe, one explicitly willing to confront Russia without U.S. backing, while repeatedly invoking France’s nuclear arsenal.
Trump’s response has been decisive.
Rather than tolerate what he views as an encroaching Chinese sphere of influence on America’s northern border, the president is drawing a hard red line by declaring that there will be no Chinese backdoor into the United States, through Canada or anywhere else in the hemisphere.
Under the Donroe Doctrine, that line is not negotiable.
