Trump: ‘I’m a Much Better-Looking Person’ Than ‘Communist’ Zohran Mamdani

President Donald Trump took a lighthearted jab at New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, joking that he’s “a much better-looking person” than the 34-year-old radical Democrat.

However, Trump also warned that Mamdani’s leftist politics are far too extreme for the city.

Trump made the remarks during his first “60 Minutes” interview in five years.

The interview aired on Sunday on CBS News.

Host Norah O’Donnell asked the president about Mamdani and the comparisons some have made between the two men.

“Some people have compared him to a left-wing version of you. Charismatic. Breaking the old rules. What do you think about that?” O’Donnell asked.

“Well, I think I’m a much better-looking person than him,” Trump replied.

The president then pivoted to criticize Mamdani’s ideology, describing the progressive Democrat as a “communist.”

“He’s far worse than a socialist,” Trump noted.

Mamdani, a state assemblyman from Queens, has self-identified as a democratic socialist and is the current frontrunner in the New York City mayoral race.

Trump: Mamdani Would Make de Blasio “Look Great”

Trump expressed doubt that Mamdani could successfully lead New York City, saying his policies would be disastrous for residents.

“I think he’s probably gonna make [former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio] look great,” Trump said.

“I think he will make de Blasio look like one of our great mayors.

“De Blasio was the worst mayor we’ve ever had.”

The interview was taped in advance and edited down for broadcast.

Trump later told reporters aboard Air Force One that he planned to watch it when he had time.

“Let’s see if they treat me better than they treat other people,” Trump said.

“Although, I do say this, they treated Kamala very well.

“In fact, they changed her answers.”

Trump’s CBS Settlement Over “60 Minutes” Interview with Harris

In July, the president reached a $16 million settlement with Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS News, over a “60 Minutes” interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 campaign.

Trump had sued the network for $10 billion, alleging that CBS had edited Harris’s interview to “tip the scales in favor of the Democratic party” ahead of the election.

Following the settlement, Trump’s legal team called the resolution “another win for the American people” and said the president had once again “held the Fake News media accountable for their wrongdoing and deceit.”
