Trump: No ‘Second Wave of Attacks’ Against Venezuela Due to New Leaders’ ‘Cooperation’

President Donald Trump announced early Friday morning that he has canceled a previously expected “second wave” of U.S. military attacks against Venezuela.

The president cited new cooperation from the country’s interim authorities and the release of political prisoners.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said Venezuela’s actions signaled a shift toward de-escalation.

In the statement, Trump wrote:

“Venezuela is releasing large numbers of political prisoners as a sign of ‘Seeking Peace.’

“This is a very important and smart gesture.

“The U.S.A. and Venezuela are working well together, especially as it pertains to rebuilding, in a much bigger, better, and more modern form, their oil and gas infrastructure.”

“Because of this cooperation,” Trump continued, “I have cancelled the previously expected second Wave of Attacks, which looks like it will not be needed.

“However, all ships will stay in place for safety and security purposes.”

Trump also revealed that he was scheduled to meet with major oil industry leaders at the White House later Friday.

“At least 100 Billion Dollars will be invested by BIG OIL, all of whom I will be meeting with today at The White House,” the president wrote.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

New Era of Cooperation

The announcement follows Trump’s decision last week to authorize a U.S. military operation in Venezuela that resulted in the capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro.

Earlier this week, Trump outlined the economic framework emerging from negotiations between Washington and Caracas, emphasizing that Venezuela would be required to purchase exclusively American-made goods with proceeds from a new oil agreement.

“I have just been informed that Venezuela is going to be purchasing ONLY American Made Products, with the money they receive from our new Oil Deal,” Trump wrote in a Wednesday Truth Social post.

“These purchases will include, among other things, American Agricultural Products, and American Made Medicines, Medical Devices, and Equipment to improve Venezuela’s Electric Grid and Energy Facilities.”

“In other words,” Trump added, “Venezuela is committing to doing business with the United States of America as their principal partner – A wise choice, and a very good thing for the people of Venezuela, and the United States.”

The president’s latest remarks signal a pause in further military escalation while maintaining a strong U.S. posture in the region as negotiations and reconstruction efforts move forward.
