Trump Praises Texas Republicans for Adding Up to 5 Congressional Seats Nationwide: ‘Big WIN’

President Donald Trump is calling Texas Republicans’ approval of a sweeping redistricting plan that adds up to five new GOP-leaning congressional seats a “Big WIN.”

The president is celebrating the move as a turning point in the battle for control of Congress.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised the Lone Star State for “never letting us down” and urged other Republican-led states to replicate Texas’s strategy.

“Big WIN for the Great State of Texas!!!” Trump wrote.

“Everything Passed, on our way to FIVE more Congressional seats and saving your Rights, your Freedoms, and your Country, itself.

“Texas never lets us down,” the president noted.

“Florida, Indiana, and others are looking to do the same thing.

“More seats equals less Crime, a great Economy, and a STRONG SECOND AMENDMENT.

“It means Happiness and Peace,” Trump wrote.

The president also suggested that Republicans could gain as many as 100 additional seats nationwide if they pair aggressive redistricting efforts with election integrity reforms.

“But Republicans, there is one thing even better — STOP MAIL-IN VOTING, a total fraud that has no bounds,” Trump continued.

“Also, go to PAPER BALLOTS before it is too late — At one-tenth the cost, faster, and more reliable.

“If we do these TWO things, we will pick up 100 more seats, and the CROOKED game of politics is over.

“God Bless America!!!”

The Texas House passed the redistricting map on Wednesday on an 88–52 party-line vote, brushing aside Democrat objections.

Republicans say the plan reflects population growth and ensures proper voter representation, while Democrats are already promising lawsuits to block the changes.

“This part of the fight is over, but it is merely the first chapter,” said Rep. Gene Wu (D–Houston).

“Our best shot is in the courts. This is not over.

“We will continue fighting.”

Other Democrats accused Republicans of attempting to dilute minority voting power.

“Members, it breaks my heart to see how this illegal and rigged, mid-decade redistricting scheme is dividing our state and our country,” said Rep. Chris Turner (D).

Rep. Jon Rosenthal (D) called it a “racist power grab that especially goes after our African American and Latino representatives.”

Republicans dismissed those claims as partisan theatrics.

“Different from everyone else, I’m telling you, I’m not beating around the bush,” said Rep. Todd Hunter (R), noting the map was explicitly based on political performance.

“We have five new districts, and these five new districts are based on political performance.”

The fight is not limited to Texas, however.

In California, Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democrats unveiled their own new map last week.

The new map is aimed at adding Democrat-leaning districts as a direct counter to Texas’s GOP effort.

However, Republicans would still see a net gain even if California follows through on its threat.

The dueling maps underscore the high-stakes battle for control of the House in 2026, with both parties racing to secure their advantage through redistricting.

For Trump, Texas’s move is more than a state-level victory; it is a blueprint for Republicans nationwide.
