Trump Responds to Report He Wanted to Fire Jared and Ivanka: ‘Pure Fiction’

President Donald Trump responded to a new report that he wanted to fire Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump during his presidency, blasting the claims as “pure fiction.”

Trump was responding to allegations in a new book by New York Times writer Maggie Haberman.

Haberman claims that former chief of staff John Kelly has to “stop” Trump from firing his daughter and son-in-law.

According to Trump, however, the report is false.

“Here we go again!” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

“Another Fake book is out, this one, supposedly very boring and stale, by self appointed head case, Failing (unfunded liability!) New York Times writer, Maggie Hagerman.

“In it she tells many made up stories, with zero fact checking or confirmation by anyone who would know, like me.

“In one case she lies about me wanting to fire my daughter, Ivanka, and Jared. WRONG, pure fiction.

“Never even crossed my mind,” he said.

“Just have to fight trouble making creeps like Maggie, and all the rest.”

“Trump at one point was even, without the couple’s knowledge, ‘about to write on Twitter’ that they’d left their unpaid jobs, New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman details in ‘Confidence Man,’ per an advance copy obtained by The Washington Post.

“Then-White House chief of staff John Kelly talked Trump down from the tweet, said Haberman, telling Trump he should explain to the family members what he was planning to post first.

“The couple was reportedly unaware they were not wanted.

“Trump agreed to Kelly’s request, said Haberman, but ‘then never followed up with the conversation.’

“But Trump repeatedly gave instructions ‘to essentially fire the pair’ during meetings with Kelly and then-White House counsel Don McGahn, said Haberman.

“The pair only resisted following through with Trump’s request amid fears ‘he would not back them once his daughter and son-in-law pushed back.’”
