President Donald Trump said Monday that he is considering legal action against comedian Trevor Noah, the host of the 2026 Grammy Awards, after Noah made false remarks during the broadcast linking Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
During Sunday night’s ceremony, Noah joked that Trump’s interest in acquiring Greenland stemmed from his alleged inability to visit Epstein’s private Caribbean island.
Noah appeared to be referring to Friday’s release of millions of Epstein Files.
The files were released under congressional legislation, which Trump signed into law.
However, Trump has never been linked to Epstein’s “Pedophile Island,” unlike Clinton, Britain’s ex-Prince Andrew, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, and other powerful elites.
The remark prompted a swift response from the president, who said the claim was false and defamatory.
In a Truth Social post shortly after the broadcast, President Trump blasted the awards show and warned that legal action could follow.
“The Grammy Awards are the WORST, virtually unwatchable! CBS is lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer,” Trump wrote.
“The host, Trevor Noah, whoever he may be, is almost as bad as Jimmy Kimmel at the Low Ratings Academy Awards.
“Noah said, INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!!”
Earlier in the show, while announcing the Song of the Year award, Noah quipped that it was “a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland,” adding that “because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
Trump has repeatedly stated that he never visited Little Saint James, the island where Epstein was accused of trafficking underage girls.
He has never been accused of visiting the island, and no Epstein victims have ever made allegations against Trump.
“I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media,” Trump continued.
“Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast.
“It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$.
“Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out.
“Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you!”
President Trump has a recent track record of pursuing defamation claims against major media figures and outlets.
In December 2024, he secured a $15 million defamation settlement from ABC News and George Stephanopoulos.
Trump sued after Stephanopoulos falsely claimed Trump had been found “liable for rape.”
Trump also won a $16 million settlement from CBS News over the editing of an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Last year, Trump filed a $10 billion libel lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal after it published a report alleging he wrote a 2003 birthday letter to Epstein that included a sketch of a naked woman.
It’s a claim Trump has denied, and the outlet has not provided evidence to support the claim.
Following the release of roughly three million additional Epstein-related documents on Friday, social media was flooded with renewed allegations tying Trump to Epstein.
The Department of Justice addressed those claims directly, stating that many originated during the run-up to the 2020 election and lack credibility.
“Some of the documents contain untrue and sensationalist claims against President Trump that were submitted to the FBI right before the 2020 election,” the DOJ said.
“To be clear, the claims are unfounded and false, and if they have a shred of credibility, they certainly would have been weaponized against President Trump already.”
As Trump weighs potential legal action, the episode underscores the continued fallout from the Epstein document releases and the growing legal risks for public figures who repeat allegations already deemed false by federal authorities.
