President Donald Trump has just dropped the hammer on Joe Biden’s Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas regarding America’s wide-open border during the previous administration.
Trump signaled Tuesday that Mayorkas could face criminal scrutiny for his handling of the southern border under Biden’s administration.
Trump slammed Mayorkas’ actions as “beyond incompetence” and encouraged DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to investigate her predecessor.
The comments came during a press conference at the newly opened “Alligator Alcatraz” detention facility in the Florida Everglades.
Trump took direct aim at the policies that led to record levels of illegal immigration under Biden and Mayorkas.
Responding to a question from Blaze Media reporter Julio Rosas, who asked why no one from the previous administration had been held accountable, Trump didn’t hold back.
“Well, I’d take a look at that because what he did was — it’s beyond incompetence,” Trump said.
“Now, with that being said, he took orders from other people … he followed orders, but that doesn’t necessarily hold him harmless.”
“If he wasn’t given a pardon, I could see looking at that,” Trump continued, directly addressing DHS Secretary Kristi Noem.
“Why don’t you take a look at it?”

Mayorkas, who oversaw DHS for nearly the entirety of Biden’s term, was widely criticized by Republicans for presiding over historic levels of illegal immigration.
House Republicans ultimately impeached him for what they called a willful refusal to enforce U.S. immigration law and for misleading Congress.
The Democrat-led Senate later voted to acquit him.
Trump’s remarks reinforce growing calls among conservatives for real accountability following years of chaos at the border.
Under Mayorkas’ leadership, border crossings reached all-time highs, and federal authorities lost track of tens of thousands of migrants released into the U.S. interior.
Trump pointed out that Mayorkas wasn’t acting in isolation.
“Somebody told Mayorkas to do that, and he followed orders,” Trump said.
“But that doesn’t necessarily hold him harmless.”
🚨: I ran into former DHS Sec. Mayorkas at the airport.
I asked him how he feels now that the U.S. has a secure border under President Trump. I also asked him if he regrets allowing Tren de Aragua into our country.
He didn’t answer any of my questions. pic.twitter.com/qFpx2xZ6pG

The remarks from Trump come as his administration advances a sharp reversal of Biden-era immigration policies.
The newly built “Alligator Alcatraz” facility, located deep in Florida’s swamplands, is already housing detainees as part of Trump’s promised mass deportation effort.
Secretary Noem, who joined Trump at the Everglades site along with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), and acting ICE Director Todd Lyons, called the facility a model of federal-state cooperation and emphasized its role in protecting Americans.
“This facility is exactly what I want every single governor in this country to consider doing with us,” Noem said.
With more than 400 security personnel, 200 surveillance cameras, and over 28,000 feet of barbed wire, the Everglades complex represents the aggressive posture Trump is taking in enforcing immigration law and now possibly investigating the failures of those who refused to.
