Democrat Rep Susie Lee Under Fire Over Border Votes, Stock Disclosure Failures

Dr. Jeff Gunter, who served as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to Iceland during his first term, is sounding the alarm about Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV), accusing the Democrat congresswoman of putting illegal aliens ahead of her own constituents and voting against Nevada workers.

Gunter, who is seeking to unseat Lee if he becomes the Republican nominee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District after the 2026 midterms, did not hold back during his interview with host Matthew Boyle.

“Let’s face it, she’s flooded and aided and abetted Joe Biden in flooding our country with illegal aliens, up to 20 million people,” Gunter said.

“She did not stand, she’s an aider and abetter.

“She’s really just chosen illegal aliens over the American people, over her district, over Nevada CD-3, and that’s why she’s going to lose.”

Voting Against Nevada’s Workforce

Gunter argued that Lee’s voting record is especially damaging in a state where hospitality drives the economy.

Nevada’s workforce depends heavily on tips and overtime pay.

According to Gunter, roughly 25 percent of the state’s jobs are tied to hospitality.

He pointed to Lee’s votes against eliminating taxes on tips and overtime, as well as her vote against what he described as the “Big Beautiful Bill.”

“She voted against no tax on tips — we’re a hospitality state,” Gunter said.

“Twenty-five percent of the jobs are tied to the hospitality industry, and she voted against no tax on tips?

“She voted against no tax on overtime.

“She voted against the Big Beautiful Bill, which really helps workers; that’s what the bill is about.

“She’s out of touch,” he added.

“She supports illegal immigrants over U.S. citizens.”

He framed those votes as part of a broader pattern, arguing that Lee and other Democrats have prioritized party-line politics over working Americans, particularly in a district where eliminating taxes on tips and overtime would have had a direct, tangible impact.

Financial Disclosure Questions Resurface

Gunter also raised concerns about Lee’s compliance with the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act, which requires members of Congress to disclose stock trades over $1,000 within 45 days.

A 2021 Business Insider report found that Lee failed to properly disclose as much as $3.3 million in financial trades under the STOCK Act.

The law was enacted in 2012 following bipartisan outrage over congressional insider trading.

Gunter took aim at that record directly.

“I’ve heard some people not call her Susie Lee, but Susie Madoff,” he said.

“How do you like that one?

“It’s really terrible and shameful what she’s done to the voters, what she’s done to Nevada, and she is here to represent us, but obviously, she has no desire to do that.

“She just wants to line her pockets, and she must be very comfortable with Susie Madoff.”

The STOCK Act’s origins trace back to investigative reporting that exposed insider trading concerns among members of Congress, prompting public backlash and legislative reform.

Critics argue that enforcement standards should apply equally regardless of party.

A High-Stakes 2026 Battle

Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District has long been competitive and is seen as a key battleground seat.

Gunter is positioning his campaign around three core arguments:

  • Lee’s votes against tax relief for Nevada’s tip-based workforce

  • Her alignment with Biden-era immigration policies

  • Questions surrounding her financial disclosures

With hospitality workers forming a major voting bloc in the district, and immigration continuing to dominate national debate, the race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched contests of the 2026 midterm cycle.

Gunter believes Nevada’s 3rd deserves a representative who prioritizes American workers over illegal immigration and who operates with full financial transparency.

Whether voters agree will determine the outcome of what could become one of the most consequential House races in the country.
