Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has released a trove of previously concealed intelligence documents that she says expose a coordinated effort by Barack Obama and his administration to manufacture the Russiagate narrative in order to sabotage President Donald Trump and poison U.S.–Russia relations.
The documents were unveiled on Thursday during a White House briefing.
They had been stored in a CIA vault since the 2016–2017 period.
According to Gabbard, the materials show that senior officials advanced claims of Russian collusion despite internal awareness that the underlying allegations were unsupported.
“The American people deserve the truth,” Gabbard said.
“For too long, these documents have been hidden from public view.
“What they reveal is a systematic effort by the previous administration to undermine a democratically elected president and sabotage relations with a nuclear power.”
Following the document release, Fox News host Jesse Watters reported on the contents.
Watters detailed the implications of the newly disclosed materials.
The report highlights what the documents indicate about the origins of the Russiagate narrative.

What the Documents Show
According to the materials released by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Russiagate narrative was built on several core claims that intelligence officials knew lacked sufficient evidentiary support.
The documents indicate that assertions Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted Trump to win the 2016 election were advanced without credible intelligence backing.
They also show that claims that Russia took concrete actions to secure Trump’s victory relied on circumstantial information.
However, that information did not meet the standard required for such explosive conclusions.
The materials further indicate that the Steele “dossier,” which contained allegations of blackmail, was known internally to be opposition research funded by the Clinton campaign.
Yet, the so-called “evidence” was nevertheless presented publicly as credible intelligence.
Claims of Trump campaign collusion with Russia, according to the documents, were constructed from routine diplomatic contacts that presidential campaigns commonly maintain with major world powers.
Gabbard said the documents demonstrate these assertions were promoted despite internal doubts, fueling years of investigations, media narratives, and political turmoil.
Fallout for U.S.–Russia Relations
The documents also detail the broader consequences of the Russiagate narrative.
They expose the freezing of diplomatic channels, abandonment of cooperation on counterterrorism, and escalating geopolitical tensions between the United States and Russia.
According to the materials, these outcomes were driven not by verified intelligence but by a narrative advanced through official channels and amplified publicly.
Documents Referred to DOJ
Gabbard confirmed that the documents have been formally referred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for review.
She said the release raises serious questions about abuse of power, politicization of intelligence agencies, and the use of federal institutions to delegitimize an incoming administration.
The documents are now in the hands of federal prosecutors as scrutiny intensifies over how intelligence was handled at the highest levels of government.
“The truth is now public,” Gabbard said.
“What happens next will determine whether accountability follows.”
