Ukraine’s Zelensky Says He Met with Democrat Senators to Discuss ‘Pressure’ on Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that he met with Democrat senators to discuss plans for ramping up “pressure” on Russia.

Zelensky confirmed that he met with Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).

Pressure Campaign Against Russia

President Donald Trump has been working to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine.

However, as Trump continues to work to bring the war to an end, the conflict remains unresolved.

Zelensky emphasized to the senators that continued pressure on Moscow is essential.

“We see no better tools to influence Moscow than pressure,” Zelensky wrote.

“There is an important sanctioning act in the Senate right now, and we expect it to work.”

He also described ongoing Russian attacks and called for using frozen Russian assets to buy missiles for Ukraine’s military.

“I also informed them about the constant Russian strikes on our people and, in particular, on American businesses as well,” Zelensky added.

“It is absolutely fair that Russian money should be used to defend against this terror, and we discussed the prospects of utilizing immobilized Russian assets to purchase missiles for the Patriot systems.”

Focus on Returned Ukrainian Children

Zelensky noted that Blumenthal and Whitehouse met with Ukrainian children who had been returned from Russia prior to the discussion, calling the meeting significant.
