Veteran Hollywood Actor Tom Troupe Dead at 97

Veteran actor Tom Troupe, known for his iconic roles in “Star Trek” and “Mission Impossible,” has died, his family has announced.

Troupe passed away peacefully at his Beverly Hills home on Sunday morning at the age of 97.

The news was shared by his nephew, Mark Cocanougher, on Instagram, who paid tribute to his late uncle, calling him “a source of peace and grace.”

Offering his condolences to fans and friends of the beloved actor, Cocanougher wrote:

“My uncle, Tom Troupe, died peacefully at home this morning.

“He had a lovely, full life, and an equally graceful departure.”

Troupe’s death was confirmed to have been due to natural causes, as reported by the New York Post.

His son, Christopher Troupe, was with him on his final day, which Cocanougher described as providing comfort for both father and son.

In his tribute, Cocanougher also thanked the many people Tom and his wife, Carole Cook, had touched through their years of work and their “generous spirit,” reflecting on the legacy left behind by the Hollywood legend.

Tom Troupe’s career in Hollywood spanned more than six decades, leaving a profound impact on both television and film.

Starting his acting journey in local theater productions, Troupe eventually served in the Korean War before transitioning to the stage.

His Broadway debut in 1957 in “The Diary of Anne Frank,” where he portrayed Peter van Daan, marked the beginning of his long and distinguished career.

After relocating to Los Angeles, Troupe’s career took flight as he landed roles in notable TV series and films.

His movie credits include “The Big Fisherman,” “The Devil’s Brigade,” “Che!,” “Kelly’s Heroes,” “Making It,” “Summer School,” and “My Own Private Idaho.”

But it was his small-screen appearances that endeared him to television audiences.

Troupe appeared in “Star Trek,” “Mission Impossible,” “Mary Hartman,” “Cagney & Lacey,” “Murder She Wrote,” “Who’s the Boss?,” “Highway to Heaven,” and “Cheers.”

In 2002, Troupe and his late wife, Carole Cook, made history as the first married couple to receive the prestigious Theater Ovation Award for Career Achievement, a recognition of their remarkable contributions to the theater world.

Tom Troupe’s influence on the entertainment industry is undeniable.

His legacy endures not just through his films and TV shows, but in the lives of those he worked with and the fans he entertained throughout his extraordinary life.

Troupe leaves behind his son, Christopher Troupe, daughter-in-law Becky Coulter, granddaughter Ashley Troupe, and a number of nieces and nephews.
