The White House has launched an investigation into how a Kentucky man who brutally murdered a 6-year-old boy in his sleep was freed from prison after serving only a fraction of his sentence.
In a post on X Saturday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the decision “wholly unacceptable.”
Leavitt confirmed that the administration is looking into the release of Ronald Exantus.
“It’s wholly unacceptable for a child killer to walk free after just several years in prison,” Leavitt wrote.

The Murder Of Logan Tipton
In December 2015, Exantus drove from Indianapolis to Versailles, Kentucky, armed with a large kitchen knife.
He broke into the home of the Tipton family as they slept and launched a frenzied attack.
Six-year-old Logan Tipton was stabbed multiple times in the head with such force that the blade bent.
Exantus also attacked Logan’s father and two sisters before being subdued.
During his 2018 trial, Exantus admitted to the killing but was deemed legally insane and found not guilty of murder.
Defense attorneys claimed he was in a psychotic state.
He was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but parole eligibility was granted as early as 2019.
Despite pushback, his release was approved in 2023.
He will remain on probation until his sentence formally expires in 2026.
Victims’ Families Speak Out
Logan’s mother, Heather Tipton, said her family received no outreach from state officials about security or protection following Exantus’s release.
“He didn’t just kill my son,” she told a local outlet.
“He killed every member of my family.
“Every person that’s sitting here today is a completely different person than they were when they went to bed December 6.”
Logan’s father, Dean Tipton, blasted the punishment as far too lenient.
“You took a human being’s life — not just a human being, a 6-year-old boy who had yet to even begin to live,” he said.
“Mentally ill or not, you take a life, your life should be at least life in prison without the possibility of parole.
“As a father, I fear that he may come back and try to finish what he started.”

Growing Public Outrage
Conservative commentator Matt Walsh called the release one of the “most heinous miscarriages of justice in American history.”
Walsh joined others in demanding accountability for judges and prosecutors who allowed it to happen.
“Logan Tipton’s name should be famous,” Walsh wrote.
“The names of every judge and prosecutor who allowed this to happen should be infamous.”
The case has ignited nationwide outrage, with critics warning it sends a dangerous message about leniency in sentencing for violent crimes, particularly against children.
The White House has not yet released details on its review.
However, officials indicated they are seeking answers on how a convicted child killer was able to walk free after serving less than a decade.
