Whoopi Goldberg: Trump Trying to Buy Military Loyalty with $1776 Bonus for Service Members

ABC’s “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg has claimed that President Donald Trump’s plan to issue $1,776 “warrior dividends” to U.S. service members amounts to a political bribe intended to buy military loyalty.

Goldberg made the accusation during a Thursday segment on the left-wing propaganda show.

During the segment, the panel discussed Trump’s Christmas-timed bonus program for troops.

As Slay News reported, every service member will receive a check for $1,776 as a Christmas bonus.

The president said the policy is funded by tariff revenue and designed to reward service members.

Before the discussion even began, Goldberg raised doubts that troops would ever receive the money:

“Let’s see if they get the — I want to see them get it first.”

She did not provide any evidence for this suggestion or any other anti-Trump claims, however.

Cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin began by saying she’d like to give Trump credit for proposing the bonuses.

But Goldberg cut in and immediately cast the payments as something more sinister.

Goldberg went so far as to suggest the bonuses were tied to whether troops might follow Trump even in questionable circumstances.

She alleged that Trump was thinking:

“If I make sure that the soldiers have what they need, they’ll back me in what I want, see?”

Griffin later argued that Trump should pursue broader economic policies rather than what she called “handouts.”

She continued by saying it was unfair to direct all tariff-funded relief to military personnel when “all Americans were hurting and in need of assistance.”

WATCH:

At no point did Goldberg inform her liberal audience that the claims she made were not based in fact.

Goldberg’s claim that the program was intended to ensure troops would “obey the president’s orders even if they were not necessarily lawful” is the latest in a series of politically charged accusations from “The View.”

The show has repeatedly framed Trump’s moves to support the military as efforts to build personal loyalty rather than morale or readiness.

In a previous episode, the show’s co-hosts suggested that troops should ignore orders from the president.

They argued that troops who follow orders could be compared to Nazis.

“It’s about the Nuremberg trials of the Nazis after World War II — and following orders is not a defense,” co-host Joy Behar said in a warning to U.S. service members.

“So these soldiers have to pay attention,” she added.
