Police in Delaware have reportedly launched a murder investigation into the death of Linda Stevenson, the wife of former First Lady Jill Biden’s ex-husband, after she was found unresponsive inside her home late Sunday night following a reported domestic dispute call.
According to a statement from the New Castle County Police, Stevenson, 64, was discovered on the floor of her Oak Hill residence at approximately 11:15 p.m. Sunday.
Stevenson’s husband, Bill Stevenson, was previously married to Jill Biden (then Jill Jacobs) from 1970 to 1975.
First responders attempted lifesaving measures, but Stevenson was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Stevenson’s daughter, Christina Vettori, told the Daily Mail that authorities are investigating the case as a homicide, stating:
“It’s still a murder investigation.
“I would not like to talk at this time.”

However, New Castle County Police downplayed claims that the case is being pursued as a murder probe.
In a brief press release, the department said the case is currently being treated as a “death investigation.”
The department confirmed that the matter is being handled by its Criminal Investigations Unit.
“Linda Stevenson’s body has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of her death,” police added.
An emergency dispatch record obtained by TMZ referenced a possible “cardiac arrest.”
No charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Jill Biden and Bill Stevenson separated in 1974 before finalizing their divorce the following year.
It was a period described as contentious and involving disputes over assets, including Stevenson’s well-known bar, The Stone Balloon.
Bill Stevenson has for years alleged that Jill had an affair with Joe Biden beginning in 1974.
The Bidens have denied the allegation.
They maintain that they met on a blind date in 1975.
