Fauci Caught on Hot Mic Calling GOP Senator a ‘Moron’: ‘What a Moron, Jesus Christ’

Dr. Anthony Fauci was caught on a hot mic calling a Republican senator a “moron” during a contentious hearing on Capitol Hill today.

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) was grilling Dr. Fauci on a number of topics before asking Fauci to “submit to Congress and the public a financial disclosure that includes your past and current investments.”

Fauci was not happy with that and told the GOP Senator during the COVID-19 Senate Health Committee hearing, “you are so misinformed.”

“I don’t understand why you’re asking me that question,” Fauci said.

“My financial disclosure is public knowledge and has been so for the last 37 years or so.”

Marshall squabbled with Fauci for a bit with Fauci repeating that the GOP Senator was “totally incorrect” before Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) ended it by calling on another senator.

It was at that point the hot mic caught Fauci saying:

“What a moron…Jesus christ.”

From The Hill:

White House chief medical adviser Anthony Fauci accused Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) of putting him in danger with personal attacks during the pair’s latest clash on Tuesday.

During a Senate Health Committee hearing on the government’s response to the omicron variant, Paul went after Fauci on several topics, including blaming Fauci for school closures and conflating emails purportedly about the origins of the virus, among other issues.

“This happens all the time. You personally attack me, with absolutely not a shred of evidence of anything you say. So I would like to make something clear to the committee: You’re doing this for political reasons,” Fauci told Paul.

Fauci pointed out that the police in Iowa recently arrested an armed man just before Christmas who claimed he was traveling from Sacramento to Washington, D.C., in order to “kill Dr. Fauci.”

From Fox News:

Fauci then took a shot at Paul, accusing him of carrying out and encouraging attacks on his character for political purposes. He showed a screenshot from Paul’s campaign website with a call to “Fire Dr. Fauci,” alongside links to donate to the campaign.

“So you are making a catastrophic epidemic for your political gain,” Fauci said.

Paul shot back that Fauci is the one who plays politics against his own colleagues in the medical field.

“You won’t defend it, you won’t argue it, you just simply turn around the attack,” he said.
