Former Attorney General William Barr has admitted that he will vote for President Donald Trump in 2024, despite his public feuding with the 45th POTUS.
Speaking during a new interview with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie today, Barr warned that “the greatest threat to the country is the progressive agenda being pushed by the Democratic Party.”
“I was pretty content with the administration until the election,” Barr told Guthrie.
“But after the election, [Trump] went off the rails.”
“He wouldn’t listen to anybody except a little coterie of sycophants who were telling him what he wanted to hear,” Barr said.
“I think he did a lot of damage after the election, both with this idea that the election was stolen and also by him rallying this group to Capitol Hill where the clear purpose was to intimidate the vice president and Congress.”
Guthrie asked Barr about his new book, “One Damn Thing After Another,” saying:
“You say in your book you were worried about the peaceful transition of power.
“You even had national security concerns.
“None of this is present in this resignation letter.
“Didn’t the American people deserve to know what you knew?”
Barr said the election was over after the states certified on December 14.
“The idea that something could be done later on Jan. 6 was nonsense,” Barr said.
“Once the election was locked in on Dec. 14, I tendered my resignation and I knew Trump was going to be leaving office.”
Despite the feud, Barr said he would still vote for Trump if he is the Republican nominee in 2024.
“I certainly have made it clear I don’t think he should be our nominee, and I’m gonna support somebody else,” Barr said.
“But if he is the nominee and your choice is Trump or whoever’s running on the Democratic side, would you vote for him?” Guthrie asked.
“Because I believe the greatest threat to the country is the progressive agenda being pushed by the Democratic Party, it’s inconceivable to me that I wouldn’t vote for the Republican nominee,” said Barr
“So even if he lied about the election and threatened democracy…Better than a Democrat?” Guthrie asked.
“As of now, it’s hard for me to conceive that I wouldn’t vote for the Republican nominee,” he said.
