Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has told Joe Biden to pound sand by moving to shut down the Democrat president’s controversial “Disinformation Governance Board.”
Boebert has introduced a new piece of legislation to defund the Department of Homeland Security’s taxpayer-funded new board that seeks to censor so-called “disinformation” online.
“This kind of stuff is terrifying,” Boebert warned.
“We in Congress have the power of the purse.
“It is our duty to shut down this department immediately.
“I’m calling on leadership in the Republican Party, Leader McCarthy, Whip Scalise, and others, to join me in calling for this department to be shut down and defunded.
“No tax dollars should go to where Biden can use the power of the federal government to silence truthful stories like Big Tech did with the Hunter Biden story.
“This really is a department of propaganda.
“To say that the federal department has a say in what’s right and what’s wrong.
“What’s truth and what is not.
“This is a very dangerous place that we’ve come to.”
Many have dubbed the board the “Ministry of Truth” in reference to George Orwell’s book “1984.”
“Democrats took that book not as a warning, but as a guide,” she said of Orwell’s dystopian classic.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki defended the Disinformation Governance Board by claiming that Biden was just continuing a policy from President Donald Trump’s administration.
“We know there has been a range of disinformation out there about a range of topics, I mean, including COVID for example, and also elections and eligibility,” Psaki said.
However, former Democrat Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) has warned that Barack Obama is behind the entire thing.
Gabbard claims Obama is still calling the shots in the White House and that “Biden is just a front man.”

Former Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard suggested that former President Barack Obama is behind the effort to establish a Disinformation Governance Board, which she likened to George Orwell’s famed “Ministry of Truth.”
“Biden is just a front man,” Gabbard said on Twitter Sunday.
“Obama, April 21: social media censors ‘don’t go far enough,’ so the government needs to step in to do the job.
“Six days later, Homeland Security rolls out the ‘Ministry of Truth’ (aka Disinformation Governance Board).”
Gabbard, a Democrat, was referencing Obama’s speech at Stanford University last week, where he argued tech companies have a hard time moderating content on their own and called for more oversight.
“Now the good news is that almost all the big tech platforms now acknowledge some responsibility for content on their platforms, and they’re investing in large team of people to monitor it,” Obama said during the speech.
“Given the sheer volume of content, this strategy can feel like a game of Whac-A-Mole.”
