Trump May Announce 2024 Presidential Campaign at Ohio Rally Tonight: Reports

President Donald Trump may make a surprise announcement of his 2024 presidential bid at his Ohio rally tonight, according to multiple media reports.

Trump is reportedly discussing whether to announce tonight at a rally in Ohio for Republican Senate candidate JD Vance.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said: “To all the press texting & calling me: Trump should announce tonight.

“His candidates won the primaries.

“Biden’s central message was the ‘ULTRA MAGA’ scare.

“And we are going to win BIGLY!

“Trump deserves all the credit for this wave election & announcing tonight he will seize it.”

Axios reporter Jonathan Swan said: “Based calls/texts all morning, Trump/Vance rally in Ohio will be v closely watched by Rs.

“Speculation has reached a point of absurdity at this point but many Rs of varying degrees of closeness to Trump are anticipating accelerated announcement based on his recent private comments.”

CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins said:

“Trump, who has been encouraged to wait until after the midterms (and his daughter’s upcoming wedding) to announce his 2024 run, is actively considering doing so during his Ohio rally tonight, several people say.

“But as Swan notes, whether he actually does is anyone’s guess.”

Kellyanne Conway wants Trump to wait, however.

“I give him a ton of credit for not announcing this year, for not stepping in the way of the midterm candidates, which a lot of people around him – who, frankly, need him for their next meal, and their next gig, and their next center of power – were urging him and begging him, and leaking to a lot of you that he would be announcing any moment,” Conway said.

“I’m glad that he didn’t do that.

“That was certainly my advice from the beginning, you know, wait until after the midterms if you do it at all.”

“Sources telling CNN the former president may announce his 2024 presidential bid tonight on the eve of the midterm elections,” CNN’s John King said.

Dana Bash said:

“He is champing at the bit.

“He’s champing at the bit to get out there and to make it official.

“And most importantly, in the short term, he’s doing it for two reasons.

“One is to take credit and to sort of ride the wave, even if it’s just the house in the sort of immediate hours tomorrow to ride the wave of what he believes will be a win in the House and claim credit.

“Because he’ll say that he endorsed a lot of the candidates who won.”
