ABC News anchor Jon Karl has called out Democrat President Joe Biden’s “Orwellian” administration for pushing false claims about the “Inflation Reduction Act.”
Karl grilled White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Sunday over the new Democrat-backed spending bill that the Biden admin claims will tackle inflation.
The ABC reporter cited a recent analysis from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office that said the bill would have a “negligible” impact on inflation.
He then said of the name of the bill is “almost Orwellian.”
“How can you call it the Inflation Reduction Act when the nonpartisan experts say it’s not going to bring it down?” he asked.
Jean-Pierre responded by saying she disagrees with economists who say the bill won’t bring down inflation.
“Remember how we’re doing this,” she added.
“t’s making sure that billionaires in corporate America are paying their fair share, making sure that it’s — that the tax code is a little bit more fair, and so when you do that, when you put it in its totality, you will see that it will — it will bring down — lower the deficit, which will help fight inflation.
“It is going to fight inflation.
“It has — we — it has been proven, it has been said by economists across the board on the Republican side and the Democrat — on the Democrat side.”
Karl also tried to grill Jean-Pierre about the FBI’s recent raid of President Donald Trump’s home.
“Let me start with the Mar-a-Lago search, which I know you can’t talk about the investigation,” Karl said.
“But how concerned is President Biden about the national security implications of such highly classified materials being down there?”
Jean-Pierre refused to respond to the question, however, even as Karl pressed her.
“No, I cannot comment on this.
“It is an investigation that is currently happening.”
