Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) has revealed that the Democrats are considering plans to impeach President Donald Trump during his second term in the White House.
Despite Trump not being sworn back into power yet, Schiff suggested that the Democrats are planning to use the same tactics they used to disrupt his first term.
Schiff revealed the anti-Trump agenda during an appearance on CNN’s “January 6th: Congress Certifies the Election.”
The newly elected senator commented after Trump’s historic election victory was officially certified on Monday.
In response, Schiff said that the Democrats are ready to “fight” Trump.
“We keep a focus on trying to get positive affirmative things done for the country,” Schiff told CNN’s Dana Bash.
“But a lot will depend on how he chooses to govern.
When asked about prioritizing legislative efforts over investigating Trump, Schiff said:
“If he violates the law, if he violates the Constitution, if he abuses his office, we will vigorously push back, fight back, stand up to him, as we had to do during his first term in office.”

While serving as a congressman and chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Schiff played a significant role in Trump’s impeachment inquiry during his first term.
Schiff was appointed as one of the “impeachment managers” and led the Democrats’ anti-Trump prosecution team.
Nevertheless, Trump was acquitted by the Senate in February 2020.
The Senate voted to acquit Trump after all Republicans, except for Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), voted to clear him of the abuse of power charge.
After being recently sworn in as a United States senator, Schiff has already landed a powerful position.
As Slay News reported, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has appointed Schiff to the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee.
The committee oversees judicial appointments.
Schiff’s appointment will echo his time in the House, where he served on the House Judiciary Committee for years.
The California lawmaker also served on the California Senate Judiciary Committee while serving in the state Legislature.
Schiff received a number of plum appointments from Schumer, including a seat on the Judiciary; Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry; Environment and Public Works; and Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
The California Democrat released a statement on his X account following the assignments.
“I just received my Senate committee assignments: Judiciary, Agriculture, Small Business, and Environment & Public Works,” Schiff wrote.
“These assignments will allow me to help build a stronger economy, support our agriculture industry and small businesses, and protect our democracy and planet.”

Social media users torched Schiff after he announced the news.
Many noted that Schiff repeatedly lied to the American people about having evidence linking President Donald Trump to Russia.
“You belong in jail,” one X user wrote.
