Alec Baldwin Attacks Halyna Hutchins’ Husband, Accuses Widower of ‘Telling Lies’

Embattled Hollywood star Alec Baldwin has attacked the widower of the cinematographer who was shot dead on the set of his movie “Rust.”

Baldwin took a veiled shot at Matthew Hutchins, accusing the husband of late Halyna Hutchins of “telling lies.”

Baldwin cited Buddism to take a swipe at Mr. Hutchins.

“In Buddhism being truthful goes beyond simply not telling lies,” he wrote in a cryptic tweet.

“It means speaking truthfully and honestly, yes.

“But it also means using speech to benefit others, not to use it to benefit only ourselves.”

Earlier that day, Matthew Hutchins blasted the actor for “sounding like he was the victim” of the fatal Rust set shooting.

Hutchins took aim at Baldwin during an interview with TODAY, claiming that the actor shifted blame for the tragic October on-set shooting that killed his wife Halyna, making himself sound like a victim, despite having been the one to pull the trigger.

“He said essentially he felt grief but no guilt,” Hutchins said.

“Almost sounds like he was the victim.

“And hearing him blame Halyna in the interview and shift responsibility to others and seeing him cry about it, I just feel like – are we really supposed to feel bad about you, Mr. Baldwin?”

“The idea that the person holding the gun and causing it to discharge is not responsible is absurd to me.

“Watching him, I just felt so angry.

“I was just so angry to see him talk about her death so publicly in such a detailed way and then to not accept any responsibility after having just described killing her.

“There were a number of industry standards that were not practiced, and there’s multiple responsible parties.”

Previously, Hutchins said Baldwin had been “very supportive.”

“I don’t think there are words to communicate the situation,” he said shortly after the fatal shooting.

“I am not going to be able to comment about the facts or the process of what we’re going through right now, but I appreciate that everyone has been very sympathetic.

“I think that we will need a little bit of time before we can really encapsulate her life in a way that is easy to communicate.”

In December Baldwin told ABC News Baldwin that “Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can’t say who that is, but it’s not me.”

The complaint filed by Halyna’s estate, says Baldwin “and the other Defendants in this case failed to perform industry standard safety checks and follow basic gun safety rules while using real guns to produce the movie Rust, with fatal consequences.

“Halyna deserved to live and the Defendants had the power to prevent her death if they only held sacrosanct their duty to protect the safety of every individual on a set where firearms were present instead of cutting corners on safety procedures where human lives were at stake, rushing to stay on schedule and ignoring numerous complaints of safety violations.

“This lawsuit seeks justice for the losses of her survivors and to hold responsible those who caused her tragic death,” the complaint says.
