Firebrand attorney Alina Habba has announced that she has withdrawn her name from consideration as President Donald Trump’s White House press secretary.
Habba ruled herself out of the job amid speculation she was the frontrunner for the position.
Trump’s personal lawyer was thought to be a top contender for one of the most high-profile jobs in the administration.
But on Thursday morning, she announced that she had withdrawn her name from consideration.
In a post on X, Habba wrote:
“While I am flattered by the support and speculation, the role of Press Secretary is not a role I am considering.
“Although I love screaming from a podium I will be better served in other capacities.”

This adminstration is going to be epic! So proud of the Trump team, the latest…

The decision comes as Trump continues to swiftly round out appointments and nominations for his Cabinet and West Wing staff.
Trump has announced several major positions in his next administration.
It comes just over a week after Trump’s historic victory in the 2024 presidential election.
Habba is known for her fierce statements in defense of Trump.
She is battle-tested when it comes to facing combative members of the press.
During Trump’s court cases earlier this year, Habba became known for her powerful press statements.

Habba was initially brought into Trump’s circle to be his attorney in a series of high-profile legal cases.
She later joined the Trump campaign as a senior adviser this summer.
While she remains close to the transition team, it remains unclear what role, if any, she will take in the incoming administration.
“This administration is going to be epic!” Habba wrote on X as she made her decision to not be the next press secretary.
“So proud of the Trump team, the latest appointments and 47!”
While Habba is no longer in the running, speculation is still swirling over who will be Trump’s White House spokesperson.
Karoline Leavitt, who was Trump’s campaign spokeswoman, is considered to be a top contender for the position.
Some other names have been floating around Washington.
Fox News’s Peter Doocy, Megyn Kelly, and even Infowars founder Alex Jones have been floated as possibilities for the job.
Trump’s last White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany is often considered one of the greatest to ever serve in the role.
It is possible that McEnany could return as White House press secretary.
She was known as one of Trump’s most loyal aides and staunch defenders.
Since Trump’s first term ended, McEnany has worked for Fox News as a contributor.
McEnany has yet to indicate whether she would return to the job.
