Grammy Award-winning singer and “American Idol” star Mandisa has died suddenly at just 47 years old, according to reports.
Christian rock radio station K-Love announced her sudden death on Friday.
The California native, whose full name was Mandisa Hundley, died at her home in Nashville, Tenn., on Thursday.
In a statement about Mandisa’s unexpected passing, K-Love said:
“Even more than her music, the Platinum-selling singer will forever be known for her huge heart and sincerity.
“Mandisa loved Jesus, and she used her unusually extensive platform to talk about Him at every turn.”
According to the Daily Mail, K-Love’s media officer, David Pierce, said:
“Her kindness was epic, her smile electric, her voice massive, but it was no match for the size of her heart.
“Mandisa struggled, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles.”

The musician is best known for landing in the Top 10 when she appeared on Season 5 of “American Idol.”
During her run on the show, she ended up placing in ninth position.
At the time, she cited Def Leppard and Whitney Houston as some of her musical influences.
Mandisa studied vocal jazz at American River College in Sacramento and music at Fisk University in Tennessee.
She went on to release her debut album, “True Beauty,” in 2007.
Her 2013 album, “Overcomer,” won a Grammy Award for “Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.”
The singer’s father, John Hundley, also confirmed her passing to Fox News.
Mandisa’s cause of death is still unknown.
However, her dad said that her death was a total shock.
“We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased,” her representative said in a statement to NBC News.
“At this time we do not know the cause of death or any further details.”
“We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement concluded.
Mandisa’s tragic passing is the latest in a long line of young celebrities and athletes to die suddenly.
Just last week, South Korean K-pop star Park Bo Ram dropped dead after suffering a sudden and fatal cardiac arrest while at a friend’s home.
The massively popular singer was just 30 years old when she died suddenly.
According to police, Park was with two other women at her friend’s house in Seoul on Thursday when she was found dead.
She reportedly collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest.
Her friends performed CPR while waiting for emergency responders to arrive at the house.
However, she was unresponsive and had likely already passed away, the police report added.
