A Russian oligarch linked to Jeffrey Epstein’s child trafficking ring has been found dead in Moscow, just weeks after his name surfaced in documents recently released by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Umar Dzhabrailov, a Chechen businessman and former Russian senator, once described Epstein’s convicted sex trafficking accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell as his “soulmate.”
Dzhabrailov was discovered early Monday morning in a luxury Moscow apartment with a gunshot wound to his head, according to Russian outlet Kommersant.
He was rushed to the hospital but was found to be brain-dead.
Dzhabrailov later died without regaining consciousness.
Police sources told the outlet the preliminary conclusion is suspected suicide.
Authorities said Dzhabrailov was found lying in a pool of blood at around 3 a.m., and a Luger pistol was recovered at the scene.
No suicide note was found.
Daughter Claims He Was “Silenced”
Dzhabrailov’s daughter, Alvina Dzhabrailova, is rejecting the official explanation.
In an emotional video posted online, she said she believes her father was killed because of his connection to the Epstein scandal.
“He was killed because he’s linked to the Epstein files,” she said, claiming he was “silenced.”
Dzhabrailova said she had spoken with him recently and insisted he would not have taken his own life.
“He didn’t kill himself,” she said.
She also acknowledged she was speaking while emotional and admitted she “didn’t really like him very much.”
Emails Show Direct Contact With Maxwell
Dzhabrailov’s name appeared in the latest tranche of Epstein documents released by the DOJ.
The files include emails showing him attempting to meet Maxwell in Moscow in 2001.
In a May 24 email, Dzhabrailov wrote:
“Dear Ghislaine, I’m back from London, planing 2 B in Moscow.
“Really want 2 C U, but I need 2 know exactly when U arive, cause I want 2 take care of U and arrange welcoming things.
“Wishing U all the best! Umar.”
Maxwell responded the next day.
“Umar, sorry that we did not come last week,” Maxwell replied.
“Got side tracked and ended up in France.
“However we Jeffrey Tom and I are coming next week arriving Fri.
“Will you be around and can we get together?
“Let me know. Hope you are well.”
The full nature of Dzhabrailov’s relationship with Maxwell and Epstein remains unclear.
However, the Russian businessman previously acknowledged his ties to Maxwell after she was convicted of helping Epstein recruit, traffic, and abuse underage girls.
“I knew Epstein,” Dzhabrailov said, according to the East2West news agency.
“I was introduced to him by Ghislaine Maxwell, a soulmate of mine.
“But I never could have imagined that they were partners, that she was involved in finding those girls who are now all over the media,” he said.
“I regret that Ghislaine, the most charming woman, got a life sentence.”
Wealthy Power Broker with Political Ties
Dzhabrailov was a well-known figure in Russian business and politics.
He previously owned the Radisson Slavyanskaya Hotel & Business Center in Moscow and ran a company that oversaw several shopping malls.
From 2004 to 2009, he served as a Federation Council senator representing the North Caucasus republic.
At one point, he even ran against Vladimir Putin in Russia’s 2000 presidential election, though he finished last with less than 0.1% of the vote.
His social circle also included celebrities and high-profile figures.
The billionaire had a friendship with Naomi Campbell and previously dated Ksenia Sobchak, a television personality often described as Vladimir Putin’s “goddaughter.”
Another Death Linked to the Epstein Orbit
Dzhabrailov’s death adds to the growing list of figures connected to Epstein whose deaths have raised questions over the years.
Epstein himself was officially ruled a “suicide” after being found dead in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.
However, the pedophile’s death is shrouded in inconsistencies as conflicting evidence suggests he was either murdered or replaced and fled jail.
French modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel, another Epstein associate accused of trafficking girls, was also found dead in a Paris prison cell in what authorities called a “suicide.”
The saga has also included the death of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent accusers.
Giuffre reportedly died by “suicide” at her ranch in Australia following a suspicious car accident.
Another controversial case involved Mark Middleton, a former aide to Bill Clinton who helped facilitate Epstein’s visits to the White House.
Middleton was found dead in Arkansas in 2022.
The death was ruled a “suicide,” though the circumstances raised serious questions.
Middleton was discovered hanging from a tree with an extension cord around his neck, and he also had a gunshot wound to his chest.
No firearm was ever recovered from the scene.
Middleton had arranged multiple meetings between Epstein and the Clinton White House and also flew on the child predator’s private jet, often referred to as the “Lolita Express.”
As the Epstein files continue to surface, Dzhabrailov’s sudden death is likely to fuel further scrutiny over the powerful figures tied to the late financier’s global trafficking network.
