Black Lives Matter’s New York chapter has called on “black vigilantes” to take to the streets in a violent response to Marine veteran Daniel Penny’s Monday acquittal in court.
As Slay News reported earlier, Penny was found not guilty by a unanimous jury verdict.
Penny was acquitted of the charges related to the death of homeless man Jordan Neely.
Neely died after being restrained by Penny on the NYC subway.
Penny and other passengers were forced to intervene when Neely began yelling death threats at the people around him.
Black Lives Matter leader Walter “Hawk” Newsome, who has been in the courtroom daily during Penny’s trial, claims he is Neely’s uncle.
Newsome threatened Penny inside the courtroom during the chaos which immediately followed the verdict.
He shouted, “it’s a small f**king world, buddy.”
Then, speaking to the media and later protesters outside the courthouse, the BLM leader called for a violent response from leftists.
Newsome said it was time for “black vigilantes” to take to the streets seeking revenge for the verdict.
He suggested that Penny was a “vigilante” and called on BLM activists to turn the tables on the Marine veteran.
“Everybody else has vigilantes,” he said in reference to Penny.
“We need some black vigilantes.
“People want to jump up and choke us and kill us for being loud, how about we do the same when they attempt to oppress us.”
The comments came as protesters across the street set their sights on police.
Many were chanting “f**k the police” and questioning why they weren’t patrolling the train to defend Neely.
However, several witnesses testified that Neely was the aggressor who was threatening the lives of subway passengers.
The homeless, mentally ill black man had been threatening to kill people.
He told commuters he was willing to “go back to Rikers” and was ready to die for his actions when Penny, then just 24, intervened.
Penny restrained Neely and held him on the ground.
He held Neely in a chokehold, alternating between applying pressure and not.
Penny restrained Neely in an effort to keep commuters safe until police arrived.
Protesters have stood outside the courtroom every day of the mammoth trial.
It took two weeks to even select a jury, followed by four weeks of evidence, and then six days of deliberations.
Those protesters called Penny the “subway strangler.”
Before the jury made their verdict, protesters warned that there would be “no peace without justice.”
Penny’s lawyer argued the warning was a direct threat to jurors.
Outside the courthouse on Monday, after calling for “black vigilantes,” Newsome told those same protesters he “loves them.”
He singled out several by name who had been there “every day, in the freezing cold” shouting insults at Penny.
Newsome told the crowd that black people could no longer rely on authorities to keep them safe or place value on their lives.
Instead, he urged his followers to take matters into their own hands to deal out “vigilante” justice, presumedly decided by skin color.
“We patrol our community,” he said.
“We keep us safe,” he continued.
“America will never fix the issue of black people because America needs a punching bag.
“They have designated us as the punching bag.
“So, f**k America. How dare you laugh and cheer when someone gets away with murdering us.
“I don’t want a march. I want a step.
“Racists: burn in hell.”
