Bodybuilder Jodi Vance has tragically died suddenly after suffering an unexpected fatal heart attack, her family has confirmed.
Vance was just 20 years old when she died.
The professional athlete had been attending the Arnold Sports Festival in Ohio.
The award-winning bodybuilder was supporting athletes she had been coaching.
Vance’s family took to social media to claim that her heart attack was caused by “severe dehydration.”
In the statement, the family said:
“Her heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration.
“Despite all efforts by the hospital, they were unable to revive her.”
However, the claim has not been confirmed by doctors or the coroner.
As part of the heartfelt tribute, the family said:
“She was a beautiful person inside and out, and she will be missed every single day.
“This was sudden and unexpected.
“Please give her family time to process this loss in peace.
“If anyone takes anything from this, please put your health first.”
Vance did not compete at the Ohio event.
However, she apparently fell ill suddenly during the festival, The Fitness Volt said.
Her condition began to deteriorate rapidly, triggering an emergency response.
The young athlete was rushed to Grant Medical hospital, where she later died.
The Franklin County Coroner’s Office has not yet confirmed an official cause of death.
However, Vance’s family said the hospital confirmed she died from a fatal heart attack.
Fans and those in the bodybuilding world have posted hundreds of tributes to Vance.
Before becoming a professional bodybuilder, Vance had studied Sports and Exercise Science at West Texas A&M University.
Vance leaves behind her new fiancée, April Spears.
The couple got engaged last October.
At the time, she posted on Instagram:
“Over a year ago, I had no idea how much love would grow between us.
“As time has passed, something beautiful has blossomed that I never expected but now can’t imagine living without.”
One pro bodybuilder, Elenoa McCabe, said:
“Jodi, my heart is absolutely broken.
“Such a sweet angel.”
Vance recently placed third in the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas in the Women’s Physique division.
She was also a social media fitness influencer.
Vance used her Instagram profile as a place to show her physique progress.
The young athlete also provided motivational quotes for her followers.
