Canada’s far-left government is moving to usher in draconian new powers that allow authorities to begin jailing citizens who “might” commit a crime.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeauโs World Economic Forum-controlled cabinet is pushing for the new “pre-crime” authority which officials claim will help to tackle so-called “hate crimes.”
The new powers are buried in Trudeauโs “Online Harms Bill,” which is expected to soon be signed into law, the Daily Telegraph reports.
The “Online Harms Bill” is designed to crack down on any opposition to the progressive agenda of Trudeau’s ruling Liberal Party.
One of the measures within the bill would give judges the power to imprison individuals if they believe they “might” commit a crime in the future.
To supposedly stop a “hate crime,” judges will be able to place citizens under house arrest and force them to wear an electronic tag.
Although the bill does include a clampdown on issues such as child pornography, much of its language revolves around battling so-called “hate speech.”
Canadian Justice Minister Arif Virani declared the legislation could play a โvery importantโ role in preventing criticism of minorities.
โ[If] thereโs a genuine fear of an escalation, then an individual or group could come forward and seek a peace bond against them and to prevent them from doing certain things,โ Virani explained.
โThat would help to de-radicalize people who are learning things online and acting out in the real world violently โ sometimes fatally.
โWhatโs really critical is that it gives the judge a wonderful range of sentences,โ he continued.
โThis is not a mandatory minimum of a life sentence, this is just a larger range, including what would be the maximum sentence.โ

Under the measures proposed in Bill C-63, which was first unveiled last month, those found guilty of such crimes could alsoย face life sentencesย in prison.
The legislation also involves the creation of a Digital Safety Commission.
The commission will be tasked with enforcing regulations and ensuring online platforms adhere to all the rules.
It will also establish the role of a Digital Safety Ombudsperson.
The new role will be responsible for โchampioning user interests, offering support, and issuing recommendations to both social media platforms and governmental bodies.โ
Last month, Canadian opposition leader Pierre Poilievreย expressed his opposition to the bill.
Poilievre, the leader of the Conservative Party, argued that the bill amounts to censorship.
In a statement, Poilievre said:
โThese serious acts should be criminalized, investigated by police, tried in court and punished with jail, not pushed off to new bureaucracy that does nothing to prevent crimes and provides no justice to victims.”
โ[We] do not believe that the government should be banning opinions that contradict the Prime Ministerโs radical ideology,โ he added.
The news comes amid controversy regarding another new Canadian law that seeks to criminalize Christianity.
As Slay News recently reported, the Canadian government is pushing to further expand its so-called โhate speechโ laws to also include key elements of the Christian faith.
Trudeauโs administration is planning to make Bible reading and prayer considered โhate speechโ โ a โcrimeโ punishable with prison time.
Under Trudeau, a WEFย Young Global Leader, the government is introducing an amendment to theย Criminal Code.
The amendment could see believers face jail time for expressing historic Christian teachings.
The legislation, Bill C-367, will make it illegal to reiterate certain parts of the Bible.
By stripping away the โgood faithโ defense, the government will be able to prosecute Christians for what is deemed by the globalist state as โhate speech.โ
Traditional Christian practices such as celebrating Christmas or attending church service will be considered crimes that carry severe penalties.
