The Canadian province of British Columbia is bringing back mask mandates in all hospitals and healthcare settings, a leaked government memo has revealed.
The Ministry of Health in British Columbia, Canada, will reimplement mask policies this week.
The rule will apply to all visitors, patients, and healthcare workers in healthcare settings.
The health department claims the move is a response to a surge of COVID-19 cases.
Details of the new mask rules were revealed in a leaked government memo last week to health providers.
The memo states:
“In preparation for the viral respiratory illness this fall and winter, BC will be reinstating enhanced infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in health care settings, services, and programs, including community physician offices and outpatient clinics.”
Media outlets in Canada have already started reporting the news.

The CBC reports some patients will be given the option to wear the masks.
“Masks will not be required for all patients and long-term care residents” according to the CBC.
“The leaked memo states that ‘patients, clients, and residents will mask when directed by a health-care worker or based on personal choice.'”
The optional masking already isn’t sitting well with some healthcare providers.

This news comes after a major American nationwide hospital network recently brought back pandemic-era restrictions, as Slay News reported.
Last month, Providence Hospital System introduced a draconian vaccine mandate for all healthcare workers across multiple states.
The hospital system dropped the Orwellian bombshell on its employees in an announcement on its InOurCircle app, a platform designed for employees to “stay up-to-date on company news.”
The healthcare giant announced that all workers are now required to receive the latest COVID-19 vaccine.
The mandate includes those who are already vaccinated and “boosted” with previous shots.
Workers were also warned that failure to comply with the new mandate could result in unpaid leave or even job termination.
