Beloved CBS Los Angeles news anchor Chauncy Glover has tragically died suddenly, his station announced.
Glover, a familiar face on KCAL-CBS news, unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday at just 39 years old.
In a heart-wrenching statement, his “devastated” family expressed their profound sorrow, writing:
“We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy.”
They fondly remembered him as more than just a family member, saying:
“He was more than a son and brother – he was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”
The three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist had recently embarked on a new chapter in Los Angeles.
He joined KCAL-CBS as an anchor in September 2023, after leaving a successful stint at ABC13 in Houston.
His impressive career also included time at WDIV in Detroit for three years and a two-year period in Jacksonville, Florida.
Glover’s journey in television began in Columbus, Georgia, as a reporter.
His TV career started following his graduation from Troy University in Alabama with a journalism degree.
In 2014, he founded the Chauncey Glover Project, an impactful year-long mentoring and college-preparatory program aimed at black and Hispanic young men.
His family added: “Chauncy’s compassion and dedication to helping others, especially through the Chauncy Glover Project, changed countless lives and inspired so many young men to pursue their dreams.
“His talent, warmth, and vision left an imprint on everyone who knew him, and the world is dimmer without him.”
The family expressed their sorrow, writing:
“While we grieve this profound loss, we are comforted by the outpouring of love and memories shared by those who knew Chauncy as the passionate, gifted soul he was.”
The family also requested privacy, adding:
“We kindly ask for privacy as we mourn and honor his incredible legacy.
“He was taken from us far too soon, but his impact will be felt forever.”
In addition to his other talents, Glover was a prolific actor, gracing the stage in numerous amateur dramatic plays.
