Damar Hamlin is challenging LeBron James, Michelle Obama, and Tom Brady to join him in promoting a campaign to spread CPR awareness and training.
The Buffalo Bills star launched the campaign with the American Heart Accossiation (AHA) after the procedure saved his life when he collapsed on the field during a football game.
A team trainer performed CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, on Hamlin for 9 minutes, buying him time to get to the hospital for treatment.
Hamlin wants to give back after all the prayers and support he received from across the world.
He teamed up with the AHA to create the “3 For Heart” challenge.
“Once again, I want to thank everybody for their love and support over these past few weeks,” Hamlin said.
“As you know, CPR saved my life earlier this year on the field, and CPR could easily save your life or someone you love.”
“That’s why I’m proud to announce that I’m partnering with the American Heart Association and kicking off Damar Hamlin’s three for heart CPR challenge.
“And of course, this one has three steps.
“Step one, got to heart.org/3 to watch a short video to learn hands-only CPR.
“Step two, donate to the AHA to fund CPR awareness and education, and step three, challenge three friends to do the same.”
The three steps in more detail:
Step 1
As Damar knows, CPR saves lives. Join Damar in watching this short video to learn Hands-Only CPR. You can be the beat for someone you love.
Step 2
Donate to the American Heart Association to fund CPR education and training, and other lifesaving programs and scientific research.
Step 3
Share the challenge with 3 friends by tagging them with #3forHeart on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
