Democrat Rep Carjacked at Gunpoint in Philadelphia in Middle of Day

Democrat Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon was carjacked at gunpoint in broad daylight today, according to reports.

The armed robbery took place at 2:45 p.m in her Philadelphia district as Scanlon was leaving an afternoon meeting.

Philadelphia, like many Democrat-run cities, has seen a crime explosion due to failed leadership and progressive reforms.

As Slay News reported just last week, San Francisco’s Democrat Mayor London Breed admitted that far-left policy has “destroyed” her city.

Scanlan issued a statement saying she was carjacked at gunpoint near FDR Park but was not harmed.

The statement said: “The Congresswoman was physically unharmed.

“She thanks the Philadelphia Police Department for their swift response, and appreciates the efforts of both the Sergeant at Arms in D.C. and her local police department for coordinating with Philly PD to ensure her continued safety,” the statement read.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney said the armed robbery was “disheartening, and quite frankly infuriating.”

Kenney said:

“Everyone deserves to feel safe in our city, and sadly, as we know, that hasn’t always been the case this year.

“It’s disheartening, and quite frankly infuriating, that criminals feel emboldened to commit such a reckless crime in the middle of the day in what should be a place of tranquility and peace — one of Philadelphia’s beautiful parks.

“I’m thankful that she was not physically harmed during this incident, and my thoughts are with her during what I’m sure is a traumatic time.”

CBS reporter Joe Holden said she was, “carjacked after leaving a meeting in South Philadelphia: Police say U.S. Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon was held up at gunpoint as two men stole her car.

“She was not physically harmed.

“Detectives, along with the FBI Philadelphia are searching for the carjackers.
