Ex-Dem Operative: ‘Democrats Deserve to Lose Again’ If They Run ‘Pretty Boy’ Gavin Newsom in 2028

A former Democratic Party operative has declared that the “Democrats deserve to lose again” in the 2028 presidential election if they choose to run California Governor Gavin Newsom as the nominee.

During an appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” former Democrat official Evan Barker blasted Newsom as a “pretty boy.”

She argues that the Democrats will be headed for more losses in the 2028 cycle if they think Newsom is their man.

Barker also revealed she had officially left the party and voted for President Donald Trump in November.

“Gavin Newsom, if he actually becomes the nominee in 2028 — the Democrats deserve to lose again because there’s no way a pretty boy from Marin County is going to be able to win over swing voters in swing states,” she said.

“It’s not going to happen.”

Barker suggested that voters will remember that Newsom infamously dined at the swanky French Laundry restaurant with his elitist during the Covid lockdowns.

At the time, Newsom had ordered his constituents to stay home and had shut down businesses across the state.

She claims this footnote would make it difficult for him to connect with working-class voters.

Barker has also appeared on Watters’ show to discuss President Joe Biden’s pardon for his convicted felon son Hunter.

“I’m not afraid to say it Jessie: This is absolutely wrong,” she said of Biden pardoning his son.

“This is a gross abuse of presidential power.”

Newsom was a top surrogate for Biden during the president’s re-election bid.

Last year, with the blessing of the White House, the two-term California governor debated Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who was a Republican presidential candidate at the time.

Newsom’s travels on behalf of Biden brought him to New Hampshire and South Carolina.

The two early-voting states are crucial on the Democratic Party’s nominating calendar.

With Trump’s historic election victory last month, Newsom became one of the Democrat leaders getting ready to lead the opposition.

The governor announced that California state lawmakers would meet to quickly take legislative action to counter Trump’s likely upcoming agenda.

The 57-year-old Newsom’s second term in Sacramento will end in early January 2027.

It will come right around the time the 2028 presidential election will start to heat up.

If Newsom does run, Vice President Kamala Harris could be in the running to replace him as California governor.

However, the two California Democrats would not be able to run for president on the same ticket.

In an October poll, 46% of Golden State registered voters said they would be very likely or somewhat likely to back Harris for governor.

According to the poll from the University of California at Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies co-sponsored by the Los Angeles Times, 42 percent of respondents said they would be very unlikely or somewhat unlikely to support the vice president.
