Democrat Backs Elon Musk: ‘Twitter Censorship Offended Basic Principles Our Country Is Based On’

A Democrat congressman has broken with his party to speak out in support of Elon Musk’s mission to restore free speech for all people on social media, not just for those on the Left.

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) was one of the few people to look good when Musk released the “Twitter Files.”

The files show that Khanna wrote an email to Twitter’s chief censors telling them they were making a mistake in censoring conservatives.

Khanna went on Fox News to talk to Maria Bartiromo where he revealed that he is open to holding congressional hearings on what was going on at Twitter.

“It is wrong to censor newspapers,” Khanna said.

“It is wrong to censor journalists.

“The New York Post hasn’t written a kind thing about me in my six years in Congress.

“They’re a conservative-point-of-view paper.

“But that doesn’t mean that you can stop publishing their pieces or articles or censor their journalists from sharing stories.”

He said Twitter’s suppression of the Hunter Biden story “just offended the basic principles that our country is based on” before saying he is “open to hearings in Congress.”

“There are two competing values,” he stated.

“On the one hand, we don’t want censorship.

“We don’t want to have people censored or boxed out, shadowboxed, and removed from Twitter because of their viewpoint.

“On the other hand, we don’t want accounts that are filled with anti-Semitism or just spewing racism or hate on these accounts.

“And I think Congress should have an honest, thoughtful conversation about how we uphold both of those values,” he said.
